About
"Collapse Of The Midnight Sun" is a cozy indie game with metroidvania and time loop mechanics that is less than one hour long and developed from scratch by a single developer. You'll be exploring an island that used to be a mountain before the city next to it flooded. The human made fusion reaction that lights up the sky as if it was the sun, has started to collapse. You only have a couple of minutes before it does and time resets. During these couple of minutes, you'll explore the island and memorize its locations like the abandoned train station and tools like the lantern. Memorizing these will be crucial for solving the puzzles ahead, before the next collapse and the resulting time loop.

Collapse Of The Midnight Sun is one of those small games that I liked mainly because of how cleverly it uses its limited time. I explore an island while a fusion reaction that acts like the sun begins to collapse, and each run ends with the world resetting. I enjoyed the strange combination of cozy exploration and impending disaster because the game manages to feel peaceful and tense at the same time. The time loop is the heart of the gameplay. I only have a short period to explore before everything resets, so I have to pay attention to where things are and remember useful locations. I liked this because the game turns memory into a gameplay mechanic. After seeing the island a few times, I start moving through it with much more confidence. The metroidvania style progression works nicely with the loop. Tools that I discover can open up new paths, while previously inaccessible areas become easier to reach once I understand how everything fits together. I enjoyed the feeling of slowly mapping the island in my head because each reset gives me another opportunity to use what I have learned. The island itself has a charming atmosphere. The abandoned train station, flooded surroundings and strange sunlight create a world that feels like it has a history even though the game is very short. I liked the colorful visual style because it keeps the tone approachable, while the collapsing sun gives everything a subtle sense of danger. My biggest issue is simply that I wanted more. The game is deliberately designed to be completed in a short session, and while I think that keeps the concept focused, it also means the world never has enough time to become as deep as it could be. I would have loved a larger island with more tools, puzzles and story details. The single developer scope is also noticeable in the simplicity of some interactions. The core time loop is clever, but a few puzzles feel more straightforward than I expected. Still, I would rather have a small game with a genuinely interesting mechanic than a much longer experience that repeats the same idea without improving it. Overall, Collapse Of The Midnight Sun is a charming and clever little adventure that makes excellent use of its time loop. I enjoyed exploring the island, remembering locations and gradually understanding how to use the tools I found. It is short, but the central idea is strong enough to leave a lasting impression. Игра 'Collapse Of The Midnight Sun' - это стильный и атмосферный roguelite шутер, который затягивает с первых минут.
its a cute little time loop game only 2 things i wasnt happy with were the camera is not adjustable and you need to get the ability to jump by falling in a gap in the road, but all in all a cute little game with a wonderful art style
Great Game! I was surprised by how much I liked this style of gameplay! Wished It were longer so I could have explored and enjoyed more of its world.
