Review: 10/10 Hour 0–5 I am the supreme ruler of urban planning. Look at my straight roads! Look at my little wind turbines spinning! My citizens are living in paradise. I am basically the Einstein of civil engineering. Hour 6–18 I haven’t blinked in six hours. My water tastes like coffee now. But it doesn't matter because my industrial zone is making bank and my traffic flow is a smooth 82%. I’ve spent 27 actual human hours on this masterpiece. I even named a dog park after my real-life dog. Life is good. Hour 26.5 I decide to open YouTube just to see a quick tutorial on fixing traffic. I click on a video called "I Built A Hyper-Realistic Cyberpunk Utopia in 20 Minutes." My jaw hits the floor. My soul leaves my body. I look back at my city, and suddenly my majestic skyline looks like a bunch of soggy shoe boxes thrown together by an aggressive raccoon. My downtown is an ugly grey rectangle. My glorious river is literally sewage. Hour 27 Imposter syndrome enters the chat with a steel chair. Does a normal mayor re-zone the commercial district? Yes. Do I? Absolutely not. I experience a complete mental short-circuit. I don't just close the game—I hit DELETE CITY. 27 hours of my life, my sweat, my dog's memorial park—POOF! Gone. Reduced to pixels and regret. My citizens didn't even get an evacuation warning, just pure, cold-blooded mayor rage. This game destroyed my confidence, ruined my sleep schedule, and turned me into a dictator who nukes his own creation out of pure jealousy. 10/10 — Would suffer a full-blown existential city-planning crisis again tonight.
Im an addict now !

Very Nice City Building Game, though mods are essential for realistic/good gameplay. Some quips: Bridge clearance in the vanilla game must be at least 7.5 metres for a straight bridge, higher for curved bridges, but a realistic level would be 5-6 metres. Furthermore, Zoning is a bit unintuitive sometimes but recent updates allow you to edit it. Lastly, you are limited to certain road types, though the Road Builder Mod allows for unlimited possibilities. However, other than that it's a very good game.
…… time # Cities: Skylines II Review It has been a while since I wrote a review. TF3 is almost here, so this feels like a good time to take a break from *Cities: Skylines II* and breathe for a while. I am not one of those players with several thousand hours who can teach a university course using road cross-sections. I have simply played enough, made enough mistakes, and suffered enough to have an opinion. So this is not a professional review. Just some random thoughts. Windows 11 Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 265K - RAM: 90 GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 - VRAM: 31 GB First of all: ♥♥♥♥ this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alright. Review time. The game has improved a lot since launch, but its biggest problem is still obvious: Performance. With this hardware, a large late-game city can still slow down significantly at around 400,000 population. The funniest part is that the graphics may still look perfectly smooth. The RTX 5090 is doing fine. What is dying is the simulation. You click 3× speed: RTX 5090: Ready. 265K: Calculating. 400,000 citizens: “Calculate my ass.” And the game continues forward at something suspiciously close to normal speed. I have also had plenty of crashes. I have even had broken saves. At one point I ended up writing code to inspect and repair a save file. Fantastic. Apparently I work for the development team now. The best part is that I already work around computer performance. During the day: Performance analysis. At night: Launch Cities: Skylines II More performance analysis. At some point I had to ask myself: Did I actually leave work???? ♥♥♥♥. The traffic AI is not completely stupid, either. It has routing logic. It reacts to congestion. The problem is: Its logic is often not your logic. You build dedicated freight access, highway ramps and a clean road hierarchy. Then a convoy of trucks drives straight into your residential district. There is probably a perfectly valid calculation behind it. My response remains: ♥♥♥♥ you!!!!!!!!!!! The economy and city simulation have a similar problem. There are many systems and a lot of ambition. Population, jobs, logistics, rent, commerce, education, traffic. The game tries to simulate all of it. But the feedback is not always clear enough. Sometimes you can diagnose a problem properly. Sometimes you just stare at the screen like an emperor:“Someone find out why the shops are complaining again.” Mod compatibility, crashes, large-save stability, late-game simulation speed and random strange behaviour are still very real issues. So purely as a finished product: This is absolutely not an 8/10 game. Honestly, even 7 feels generous. And yet... I still love playing it. Road planning is fun. Zoning is fun. Freight is fun. Watching metros, railways, ports and highways slowly become one complete system is genuinely satisfying. Nothing beats spending two hours fighting one terrible intersection. Demolish it. Rebuild it. Watch. Do it again. Then suddenly:Traffic flows. And your ego immediately goes:“These idiots would be completely screwed without me.” Then night falls. You zoom out. What used to be empty land has become neighborhoods, industry, a CBD, ports and thousands of glowing roads. And you are forced to admit: ♥♥♥♥, this is fun. That is the strange thing about Cities: Skylines II. I can complain about the performance. The bugs. The crashes. The simulation. A broken save can make me want to uninstall the entire thing. Then I close the game. The next day I see the icon. Pause. Launch Cities: Skylines II. ... ♥♥♥♥. My scores: Product quality: 5/10 Performance & stability: 4/10 Urban planning freedom: 8.5/10 Traffic & simulation gameplay: 8/10 Ability to keep me playing while complaining: 10/10 Overall: 6.5/10 This is not a masterpiece. It is not even a particularly polished product. If someone gives it a negative review because of the performance, bugs or simulation problems, I completely understand. For me, though: It really is a piece of crap. The problems are real. The smell is real. Unfortunately... I still enjoy eating it. The mayor is taking a break. See you in TF3. Time to build some railways. Hopefully that game will treat me better. time
