The ambience of this game is good but i wouldn't recommend it until the bugs are fixed. bugs I encountered - I clipped into objects (e.g the black console in the first area) - The F key wouldn't consistently work mainly when pushing boxes (this isn't a problem I encounter outside of the game) - A couple times the ladders would teleport me back to the start of the area and kill me - The time portals pop you out where you activate it, this often lead to getting stuck in objects - mainly in the shelf area with the masks - the large amount of masks in the shelf area broke the camera - the crouch key clipped my feet into the ground on occasion Controls - WASD movement - F is the 'Activate key' and 'push key' - this doesn't always work - CTRL crouch - shift sprint My thoughts as stated above, the ambience is good but the game is too buggy to consistently play. There is also no tutorial so you have to figure out the controls yourself - this is made really hard by the F key not working. If a tutorial was added and at the very least the F key was fixed i would recommend this game but in its current state, I cannot
https://youtu.be/vDsKaKe9LLE I really enjoyed the art style, the concept art, and the feel of the game but it is almost unplayable. The assets will shoot around or get stuck, buttons will not work, or you will just die for no apparent reason. There also isn't any ambient sound or music which is really odd and not sure if that was how it was supposed to be. I think if it gets a major update then this could be a great game especially since it's free but until then I don't recommend it. If you want to see my play through you can check out my video above.

So, in Chrysalis Inc. you are a guy(?) who maybe has an eye patch(?) and is wearing a tattered wizard robe(?) and despite appearances is not actually naked under it. You have just hatched out of jar of goo(?) and you want to make your father proud. You attempt to do this by running about in a goofy, loose-jointed way, getting stuck in corners, jumping and hovering whenever a surface isn't fully flat, and glitching out of bounds. You make it from the first room to the second, where there is a ledge too high to jump to, and a big crate. It looks like a standard situation for the first puzzle introducing the idea of sliding blocks around, but apparently you cannot slide this block, so you're done. At least until you find that you can press 'P' for the level-skip menu, but the game doesn't really get any better for it. The game images state clearly that this game is still "under construction" and that a patch is forthcoming, which is good, but it really shouldn't have been released in the current state to begin with. This feels like a very early alpha build.
Glitchy, ugly, bad controls stay away
- Cool little game, but has quite a few bugs throughout that really detract from the experience. I played as of this review for about 10 minutes and got softlocked 2 times. The 2 spots I got softlocked were from trying to jump over the hands ambushing the crates and being unable to fall or die, and standing on top of the claw in the level directly after needing to run away from the heads swarming towards you down the hall. - The level with all the heads and arms is less of an issue but when it starts really losing frames, doesn't make it that good of an experience. The camera also goes through walls a few times so you can see into the void and just not see the game at all during some points.. - Another thing I noticed right away after playing again is that the controls are very repetitive to figure out. I ended up having to go through every key one by one to figure out the interact button. I would recommend making a button prompt show up on the screen or making a section in the menu where you can find the controls. - Trying to climb the ladder in the room with the claws and boxes after going through the portal caused me to go flying out of the map and die. - I'm stopping at the room with the claws and boxes, not sure what you're supposed to do in that room, but I couldn't figure it out making it unfinished and uncompletable. Seemed rushed so I would recommend trying to really fix all these bugs and playing through the game again in your way to see if you can fix these things that I noticed and more.
This is yet another student project, one of literally thousands self-published on Steam Direct. It's from University of Utah in the USA. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" games, we must still question what value they have for gamers. This isn't a fully fleshed out game. It's the result of an academic exercise and has much more limited value than a professionally developed game. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments. It helps their marketing and makes students feel good, but it puts the business before the needs of gamers. The students made a basic, dark/horror themed 2D side scrolling puzzle adventure game... think Black the Fall, but much shorter and riddled with bugs. See, there's a common problem with student projects. It looks like a great game, but really, it's short, shallow, and full of bugs that will never be fixed because the students got their grades and moved on... this is abandoned and unmaintained. Why is this good for gamers? The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Let's look at the price and what kind of value this actually offers gamers. It would be unethical for students to try charge money for their homework assignments, so you don't have to pay any money for this. But you'd still have to spend your time downloading this, and "time is money", as they say. There's the other problem, too... as a student project, this wasn't made for gamers. There's no requirement for them to polish and balance the game properly, all they need is something to show the faculty so they can get their grade and move on. Let's once more ask... why is that good for gamers? It's obviously not delivering a solid product. Yet here it is, on the store page, and here you are, reading my review for a student demo that's going to waste your time. While genuine amateur developers who made real products get ignored because they have to compete with this stuff. In some ways, this deluge of student projects on Steam is harmful to everyone. Even as a free game, this couldn't find an audience. With a peak of only 3 players, it's clear the Steam community took one look and walked away. They literally couldn't pay people to spend time playing this. This isn't a complete game for gamers, just a glorified homework assignment, and there's no profile benefits like a +1 count to your game collector badge, so I can't recommend adding it to your library.

DAMN... What a horrible game to play, I know it's free-to-play but damn it's horrible. The game looks ok, and it seems interesting, but the gameplay is the bad part about it. First and foremost, the game doesn't allow you to change keyboard bindings, there's no option, and the game also doesn't teach you what buttons do what, so you need to press button by button until you do something and learn. At this point, this is what I learned: Move (AWSD), Run (Left Shift), Crouch (Left Ctrl), Interact (F), Jump (Space). It took me a while to learn how to interact because I reached a point in the tutorial that I clearly need to push a block to progress, but since the game didn't teach me how to push, I had to try a lot of buttons until finding F is the button that we grab the block to push it... F is also the button to enter the teleport/dimension area. The character movement is horrendous, it seems like you need a moment to wait to do something... Do you know those games that make your character delay start moving, and take a while after releasing the button to stop moving? Like inertia, or something? Isn't like that in this game, but it's something similar, it's like you press the button, and if you try to do it again fast, it simply doesn't register... I was trying to jump from a crate to another place when suddenly the character wasn't jumping... I figure out that, after getting on the crate, you must take a little while to jump, or your character will simply move forward and get out of the create. There's a part with a lot of hands coming out of the ground, which will lag a lot, even with my ops, I felt lag. In this part, if you hit one of the hands, you'll die, and the death sound is amazing, it's the same as a microphone failing a little bit... There's another part where a lot of heads roll around or something like that, it will lag a lot as well. Well... This game is terrible, but it's free, you can try it for yourself.
The game is not bad, but I stopped playing it because the button you use for pushing and pulling crates sometimes stops working. I also wish it had controller support and an explanation of the controls.
