About
You wake in a collapsing tower with no memory. The only other person here—a silver-tongued mage named Ilar—claims to be saving your life through a desperate ritual. Yet, their story keeps changing and you keep dying.
This is Chronicles of Taldun: the Remainder, a dark fantasy visual novel where death is not the end—it's how you learn the truth.
Play as Vyn, a High Magus trapped with Ilar in a tower that's tearing itself apart. Each death reveals another fragment of memory, another piece of the mystery. Were you colleagues? Lovers? Enemies? The deeper you dig, the less certain you become, and the more you realize Ilar may not be trying to save you at all.
Read between the lines. Explore for clues. Use hands-on deduction to break the vicious circle and set them both free.

I admit, I expected a "Tumblr passion project" (whatever that means to you) going into this and though it does look and read like one, it was actually pretty alright. The story moves an iota too slow at times, but I did appreciate the choices given to change the direction conversations/the sub plot went. Though this is only Act 1, we get to know the leads rather well. Sequences in and around flashbacks were typically where I was most interested in the characters, neither have yet to charm me, however. The music and sound design was atmospheric and mystical, yet sinister and lightly oppressive, although transitions and loops were ridged. The visuals looking akin to a storybook feeds well into the atmosphere and world being built. The backgrounds are simple, making every bit of color stand out when it needs to (an effective strategy that also saves time ;). Though I do feel that there was a need for a clearer visual of the room. The way the desk was talked about in tandem with the couch made it very unclear as to how big the room actually was or what separated the two, if anything at all (besides the floating objects). This made several lines and exchanges of dialogue a bit confusing, though perhaps I simply missed something early on. Ilar's sprites all look smooth and skillfully drawn and shaded... save for the 3/4 view; it's jarring when next to their other artwork and looks of noticeably lesser quality (particularly referring to their head). Same could be said for the cat beast that I forgot the name of. There's more I could definitely say, but this is only the first act, no need to dig too deep quite yet lol Despite my criticisms, I do look forward to seeing what the next act has to offer. For a free game, I was very pleasantly surprised.

Like everything that Tumblr produces, it's trash. Derivative, too far up it's own butt and throws sjw garbage at you. A very pathetic attempt at the Young Adult genre, which itself is unbearably pathetic. Let's not even mention the furry garbage.
I'm enchanted. By the writing, by Ilar, by the art, by the surrounding sounds, by the mystery... By everything! I was sucked in the moment I opened it and started reading. I can't wait for more, and I definitely recommend this if it so much as catches your attention even if it is a little bit. I'm intrigued by the mystery, touched deeply by the letters I read and held by the need to sass Ilar back every time. I also have Concerns, but damn me if I won't try to help both of them (and Fuzzpants) to be safe until the very end. Amazing story!
game makes you play as some ugly weird looking transpassing reject, hard pass.
This is the first chapter in the story and new chapters will be released in the future. It's pretty short, but it packs in a lot of beauty and story-building. The characters are very mysterious and surprisingly fleshed out considering how short the story is. The music is beautiful and the art is amazing. This story also has characters that use different pronouns (they/them, xe/xir) and it's refreshing to see. If they make the next chapters cost money, I would pay for them because I love this so much. 10/10
I proclaim: If you aren't enchanted by this, then you should immediately go have an MRI done. To verify you still have a heart.
The Remainder, Yüksek Büyücü Vyn'i kesin ölümden kurtarmaya çalışacağınız karanlık bir fantezi gizemidir. Yolunu tek başına mı bulacaksın yoksa kaybolan bir aşkı yeniden mi alevlendireceksin? Fedakarlığa değer mi? Kurtarılmayı hak ediyor musun?
The Remainder has enchanted me so completely. Every part of its presentation echoes the love and care sunk into its development - it is a joy to play.
The full game is absolutely incredible, so I'd definitely recommend giving this demo a try if you're interested in playing it.
