Chronicles of Mystery - Secret of the Lost Kingdom

This continues the 'story' of the Legend of the Sacred Treasure, and manages to be even worse. I got stuck trying to find the snake's egg; the game shows some sparkles in the throne room (pointing at the arcade) but will not start a hidden object scene anywhere. The walkthrough is wrong; it isn't possible to add the water to the pot before all ingredients have been gathered. For the rest it has all the same flaws: objects in impossible places, objects of just a few pixels in size, non-working hints, timed scenes, etc.

No matter how much I click on the objects in the HOG puzzles, the game doesn't recognise the fact that I've found them.

I cannot believe that this game has 0% Steam review score... Almost all reviews complain that game is beyond broken, that button pressing does not work, that nothing works. I did not encounter any glitches at all, all button pressings worked. Maybe I got extremely lucky, but it's just so weird that I did not encounter any problems and everyone else did. + The music is fantastic. + The story was very interesting, it kept mystery until the end, it ended very simplistic, but I somehow wasn't disappointed by the ending. + You can collect hidden gems and use them to skip puzzles. - The hidden object minigames makes you collect lots of stuff you don't need. It extends the playtime I guess, but it does not connect to story or anything at all. - There are very few puzzles. I don't get the pipe puzzle, it was the only puzzle I skipped with gems as for all other puzzles they were fun, but I guess they were too easy. - Whole story and conversations are in text exept for the cutscenes, I wish that conversations had voice acting. 7/10

Looks so interesting and fun, too bad I can't play it. Nothing happens when I click on the objects in the hidden-object mini games.

Started out barely okay at best and devolved into an unplayable mess. Controls strated to not respond the further in the game I got, then it started running super slow, like: click the puzzle piece to move it, watch an hour glass sit there for 30 seconds and watch as the pieces starts to slide over, 15 seconds later the piece gets into place. Only 65 more moves to make... I think not.

The game played fine with no bugs for me. However, it's terrible. The story is poor and the second half of the previous game. But what is saddest of all is that the first two Chronicles of Mystery games were very good, with the second being excellent. This is a simple, short HOG as opposed to full length point and click adventures with lots of locations and a great story. This story is ridiculous and a waste of time. Something clearly very sad happened to City Interactive to make it change direction so drastically and lose the plot in terms of game design.
