A Game For The Discerning Chicken Enjoyer When one of the first lines in the game was "you must really like chickens" I know from that instant that this game knew what the ♥♥♥♥ I am about: chickens. You are doing absolute magical nonsense to these chickens, but the game does not ever give you the opportunity to be cruel-- its very silly and good-spirited, even when you are shipping designer chickens to dubious black market buyers. You have to pet them, and wash them, and give them treats, and sometimes they ask you to shake them very hard, or you can give them drugs you brewed in your basement. This game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rules. A further analysis: Art: The art is unique and charming. It looks consistent and all finished, even with a silly style it's clearly polished, handmade work. The animations are not overdone or buggy, and communicate exactly what they need to. There are also chicken idle animations, tailored to the true chicken fan, such as Preening, Sitting, and Staring In Two Different Directions. Gameplay Loop: The gameplay loop of Chickencraft is to feed your hens certain foods to change what the colors/traits of the chick will be. It's a combination of science and gambling, which is great when you are a nerd and like games about creature breeding/collecting or genetics. There are enough things to do at all times on your farm that I don't find myself sitting and waiting, but don't feel overwhelmed by the amount of things to do, Certain parts inbetween upgrade levels can be a little grindy while you're looking for a specific chicken, but nothing absurd. it takes more than one sitting to finish the game I would say, with enough content to stay engaging but not so much to feel un-completeable. Bonus Mechanics: The game has a few bonus mechanics that contribute to the main loop and keep things interesting. You have small farm plots where you can grow ingredients to feed your chickens, and you have to water these-- this usually kept my cursor moving and active while I was waiting for eggs to lay or hatch, so I wasn't sitting around. Obtaining resources can also be done with the simple crafting system, which is entertaining enough to be a refreshing break from gameplay with encouraging rewards, but it doesn't compete for your attention. Replayability + Entertainment: The game is admittedly a little niche, aimed toward players who particularly enjoy creature collection and breeding games. However, if you like those genres, this is SUPERB. All the hallmarks of a great game of the genre-- options to take photos of your creatures, a completion book, different varieties and combinations, breeding+simple genetics systems, the whole nine yards. If you're looking for fast paced or action-packed gameplay, this might not be it, but players who like to slow down will enjoy it, without feeling bored or drawn out. Essentially, the game can be replayed for as long as you're enjoying the gameplay loop, which is pleasant and easy to get into, even if you stop playing for a while. I can see myself coming back to this game again even after I've finished it, just to enjoy the gameplay and visuals again, and enjoying it just as much! I found Chickencraft on itch.io just 2 days ago, played the demo in a single, frenzied sitting, and fell in love with it. Imagine my shock and delight when I learned it was releasing in less than 48 hours!! I smashed that add to cart so fast my mouse nearly shattered. Since that moment I have been playing ChickenCraft nonstop. If ChickenCraft has one fan it is me. If ChickenCraft has 10,000 fans those are also me. If ChickenCraft has no fans I'm doing some Back To The Future ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to move through time and be ChickenCraft's fan a second time. Mucho mas entretenido y viciante de lo que creí en un inicio, gráficamente es bonito y el loop de juego te mantiene haciendo las distintas actividades constantemente. Conseguir las gallinas super especificas requeridas es bastante desafiante pero no injusto usando las pociones y combinaciones adecuadas, conseguir las gallinas "de raza pura" es un poco más simple pero sigue siendo algo divertido a alcanzar. Como puntos negativos diría que la poción de hongos es demasiado dificil de farmear y dependes puramente del rng para que te toque el efecto que necesitas, teniendo que gastar constantemente recursos más caros con tal de que te toque suerte. Además una vez consigues llegar al final, la misión postgame es innecesariamente larga y se vuelve tedioso conseguirla, las mejoras finales son muy caras a comparación de el tier anterior. Fuera de eso me la pase muy bien y lo recomiendo totalmente :)

I absolutely adored the art style of this game and loved how derpy the chickens look, but for being a niche game I do agree with a review that if you love monster collecting or breeding games this will be a nice short one for something different. I hope this dev goes well in their adventure of developing future games.

Sympas, le concept est amusant. Mais très rébarbatif et laborieux. J'aime pourtant le farm, mais ce n'est pas assez équilibré, puisque même en fin de partie, le hasard reste un facteur prédominant. Je n'ai clairement plus envie de continuer le dernier objectif qui semble déraisonnable. Les champignons oranges sont très pénibles à récupérer. Le jeu n'est pas assez généreux sur la fabrication, même en fin de partie. Il vient de sortir, donc j'espère que ça s'améliorera et saura s'enrichir sans s'alourdir. Des bugs avec la machine à compost qui reste bloqué sur 100% lors des évènement de temps. Obligé de sauvegarder et quitter à chaque fois (c'est pourtant nécessaire pour les champignons oranges surtout)

I just don't understand, chickens are annoying, smelly, and tasty. I bought this because it looked like a stupid game. It is a stupid game but I am in love with it after almost 2 hours of gameplay. Why won't the damn mutations work the way I want them too. LOL! I must stop. I must play something else. No .... Mutation more chicken mushrooms, now. Blue, Green between 15-20 lbs. I can do that. No, No , No I can't.... one hour later. Nope still here mutating. Stop being so damn addicting. I will be playing again.
