Repetitive item-collecting and zombie-fighting loop where success requires speed and luck, but failure offers nothing in return. Once you’ve chosen a character—this selection is purely cosmetic since there are no stat boosts, abilities, or special perks—you’ll be sent off on your very first run. The game requires you to clear the “easy” mode first before the other three difficulty levels become available. Fortunately, the introductory challenge isn’t overwhelming and works mostly as a tutorial to ease you into the loop. Each run follows the same structure. Your task is to move through a series of shops and gather all the items listed on your shopping list before the countdown expires. If you fail to collect everything in time, the run ends abruptly, and you’ll walk away with absolutely nothing. There are no partial rewards or consolation prizes for failed attempts. Increasing the difficulty doesn’t change the core loop, but it does raise the stakes by throwing in more enemies, requiring a greater number of items, and intensifying the boss battles waiting at the end. At the start, your offensive capabilities are limited to a simple punch. Eventually, you gain access to a firearm, which sounds promising at first but comes with a major drawback: ammunition is limited and persists across all future runs. In other words, if you blow through your bullets too quickly, you may find yourself completely unarmed later. On the other hand, the gun isn’t particularly powerful, so relying on it heavily rarely pays off. Item collection itself is handled in a straightforward arcade-like fashion. Each store consists of a single screen where your character moves side to side as items fall randomly from above. Sides of the screen loop, which means you can exit one side and show up on the other. While each shop has its own unique pool of items, you aren’t restricted to grabbing only what’s on the list. Anything you pick up contributes to your final payout at the end of the run. However, you cannot proceed to the next store until you’ve secured every required item. Since drops are random, sometimes you’ll get what you need immediately, while other times you’ll be left waiting anxiously. This can be risky because the timer is shared across all shops, meaning dawdling too long in one location can jeopardize the entire run. On the flip side, if you’re already in the final store with every list item collected, you can milk the clock to snatch as many bonus items as possible. Of course, you won’t be shopping in peace. Zombies frequently fall alongside the items, and others shuffle in from the sides of the screen. These enemies can be dealt with using your basic attacks, but they’re constant interruptions. Once you’ve completed all the stores, the run culminates in a boss fight. While the fight is also bound by the timer, the game does give you a reset, so the clock doesn’t carry over from the store segments. What makes this cycle frustrating is the lack of rewards for failure. Runs can end abruptly with only three hits from enemies, and bosses in particular dish out damage quickly. Although health packs and ammo drops exist during store sections, they’re extremely rare. Power-ups offer some relief, but only temporarily. At the in-game shop, you can purchase consumables such as extra ammo, health refills, magnets that draw items toward you, protective shields, or bombs that wipe out every enemy on screen. The drawback is that each power-up is single-use. Permanent upgrades, like stronger guns, exist but are very expensive. Ultimately, the game shows its full hand almost immediately. Beyond the first run, everything else is a matter of grinding toward achievements across hundreds of runs.
It's fun and addicting! I bought it the night it came out and played until almost 2 am LOL oops. It's kind of hard at first but if you get past the first boss, you get a gun which makes things easier. I would definitely recommend it to others. I realized when I went to play that my batteries in my controller were dead LOL so I played on a a PC keyboard and it wasn't too bad. There are some games where you really can't do that at all but this was still fun.
Works well on my linux mint rig. Blitz mode is a lot of fun and I recommend upgrading from the shot gun as soon as you can. My son and I have played the coop quite a bit and its easy enough for a 7 year old to pick up but still challenging for me. Its a good cheap game to pick up
It is an arcade style game with a goofy and fun premise. Once you fill out your shopping list you are free to move on to the next section so you can preserve your time. There are a variety of things to keep track of especially on the harder difficulty. This is where the core mechanics shine more as you are trying to prioritize your list, kill enemies, and survive. The hitboxes feel a bit unforgiving but you can start a game back up quickly.
This is a fun pallete cleanser. I play a lot of different games, some that take awhile to get into but this one is grab a controller and go! It may seem simple at first but the challenge on each run varies so it keeps you coming back.
Fun and addicting arcade game. The randomization of the levels adds to the replay of this game and the blitz mode is certainly challenging on hard/nightmare. Do yourself a favor and upgrade from the shotgun early on as the other weapons are much better. Played well on my ROG ally and priced well.
Great game to play with friends. Local multiplayer made it PERFECT for the family.
Anytime zombies are involved i'm automatically in! This game did not disappoint! First of all, I love the art and animation it definitely caught AND kept my attention. The sound and music gives me a nostalgic retro feel, and I love the pop-culture references! I did start out playing on keyboard and was having trouble getting started, but turns out it was just "user error" oops! I have played on both controller and keyboard and all is well! (I definitely prefer to play it on controller). Blitz is fun, and thanks for keeping the realism of having to look at my shopping list to check what else I missed! /sarcasm LOL! Also! Don't let tunnel vision get you! Keep an eye on the timer! Get this game! It's so much fun and i'm addicted!
I have this game on Atari VCS and follow this dev on discord but recently added Steam on my VCS as well so I picked it up here to support the dev. Its a simple modernized arcade game that is a GREAT time killer. I occasionally play the co-op mode with the wife and it hasn't ended our marriage... lol. For the price its a no brainer.
Surprisingly addictive and well polished. Top notch voices and music to put you in a goofy zombie killing frenzy. Enjoyed punching many zombies in the face!
