First off, while I do love Otome Games, I think that I just don't fall into the target group for this one. It's definitely targeted at a younger audience (Teens, I would say), so this might influence how I see the game and why I can't recommend it. It does not mean that the game isn't interesting or anything like that. Also, I wanted to add that I played only the good Endings and the Bad Endings that give CG's. I won this game in a raffle as well. Pro: - LI CG's. They were really well done, and I still can't get a specific Val's one out of my head <3 - Small light animations. - You can unlock lots of side stories - Some backgrounds are really stunning (and some are pretty ugly) - Easy to read Neutral: Background quality changes a lot from custom-made, to stock pictures - Lots of choices; some choices don't seem to matter much There are not really any LI routes, it's basically one straight story line with here and there added an extra story of the LI Contra: - It's only book 1, so the game isn't fully finished and ends with a BANG - Going back via backlog is not possible - Full of potholes and contradictions - MC romances with all the guys at the same time. Even if you only focus on one guy..... (hence why I used a guide to reduce this…) this feels just... off - The characters, especially LI's, in the romance scenes are very generic and often have the same reaction. You could easily switch them out for each other........ - In the beginning of each chapter, they often summarize the last parts or show parts of the dialogue again. This might work well in a mobile game, but for a port, it's a bit annoying - Skipping stops every time a chapter ends, a black screen with text is shown, etc. - Replaying for another LI right after finishing one is hell, duo to way too many choices, and the thing with the skipping function I mentioned before. Personally I can't recommend it since I really got annoyed with the potholes and MC being always romantically involved to at least some degree with every character till the end. I also would like to add that nothing really gets finished in Book 1.
This game got me feeling some type of way, and NOT in the good way! So they really tried to serve us this Duke's daughter fantasy realness, talking 'bout "Oh you're half angel, half demon" - like okay, that's cute or whatever. They had your girl enrolling in magic school thinking she's about to be the main character energy we deserve. The Academy of Celestia? More like the Academy of Confusion! First of all, they did something right. The CGs is gorgeous. And they let you play all three routes simultaneously in one playthrough instead of locking you down like most Otome games out there. Your character ready to risk it all for ANYBODY who shows up. They also removed all paywall choices from the mobile version, which is cute, but then again snatched ALL the spicy scenes??? Like, we went from rated R to Disney Channel real quick! And here's where it gets messy, and not the good kind of messy: The skip function is BROKEN broken. Can't even go back via the backlog. The whole story contradicting itself left and right like it can't make up its mind. MC falling in love from zero to a hundred REAL quick with no development. She's so passive, she makes a doormat look assertive! There are a lot of choices, and most of them don't matter - so why am I clicking?? For decoration?? And the way they keep TELLING you the same thing over and over instead of showing you... I'm not in kindergarten, I got it the first time! Finally, IT'S NOT EVEN FINISHED! They really gave us Book 1 with a cliffhanger. The sequel is a myth at this point. Conclusion: save your coins and your time. There's better otome games out there that'll actually deliver what they promise. This one? It's giving unfinished business, and technical difficulties. 2 out of 5. And that's me being GENEROUS 'cause the art was cute. NEXT!
Disclaimer: I've only played through chapter 2 (took 3 hours) and my thoughts might change if I play further into the game (there's 20 chapters total O_O). Caution, spoilers. I really want to like this game, but so far it's been quite a struggle. I love dating sims and otome games, but this one offers little original to the genre. The love interests are attractive, but you have your standard tropes of cinnamon roll, cold, and spicy. The plot of the story feels like store-brand Harry Potter (they literally go through a magic brick wall into a hidden train station to travel to a school of magic, and an animal delivers her acceptance letter on her birthday...), with you conveniently just turning 18 so we can have a dating sim as an adult. However, you're constantly treated like and referred to as a child. The writing loves to "tell" instead of show, and will make the same point five times in a row, just worded differently in case you were too dumb to figure it out the first four times they said it. The main character is frustrating for that reason. There's also a weird dynamic between the main character and her two "brothers," one of which is much older than you, and the other is a literal child. It feels like the younger brother is a plot point to try to convince you he's cute so they can try to make you care that he exists (without ever actually having any meaningful interactions with him) so they can put him in "danger" to drive a plot. It's unnecessary and feels cringy. There's some rough edges to the game I would have thought would be worked out since this was ported over from a preexisting mobile game. Such as many typos in the dialogue and rough translation errors. The art is also a mix of hand-drawn art and photos that were filtered, which is a stark contrast visually. Some of the art is beautiful, but some of it seems to clash together. If my community asks for me to play more of the game I will, but as it currently stands I'm not fully motivated to put in 30 hours to get through the rest of the content to get my ending with Val.
What in the fresh three-timing was this? Nope, nope, nope. Basically all 3 routes are happening at the same and main character is just ready to blush and squirm for anybody. Also the logic: we want to have inclusive environment in school, so we shall not allow them to use their normal forms, but we will segregate everybody by classes, badges and rules. Logic was not logical. I'm sure there are people who would enjoy this, but it was not me. Hard pass.
After finishing it, i honestly feel conflicted about the game. The story itself turned out much better than i initially thought, but you can definitely feel the holes the cut content left and it would have been a much better game with them in my opinion. I do hope they will release a DLC in the future that restores the story to its original state. Aside from that, i did NOT expect this to be a "book 1" of a series, which left me very disappointed at the "end", which felt very abrupt and much like a cliffhanger. Waiting years for book 2 is going to be painful. Overall, i'll give it only a 6/10 because of reasons mentioned above. If the cut content was still in the game, i'd have given it 9/10, thats just how severe the holes feel in the story flow for me.
Hey, I can't argue with Fate if it lets me romance all three of you at the same time. Celestia: Chain of Fate follows a lovely young woman who you can rename, but I’ll refer her by her canon name Aria Silverwings. It’s Aria’s 17th birthday and everyone is excited. Aria, herself, can’t help but remember a fairytale about an angel and a demon falling in love, having a daughter, and hiding her daughter with humans before being torn apart; hoping they were able to be together again. Not knowing that the fairytale is more real than she imagined. We soon also learn that Aria has an interesting ability to see people’s emotions by the color of the breeze, she’s the daughter of the duchy, has an older and younger brother, and all three of you were all adopted. Aria’s birthday goes pretty well, but in the middle of the celebration a bunny dressed like a postman comes to deliver a letter while she’s alone. Opening it reveals to eb an invitation for Celestia Academy, a magic school for Angelus (angels) and Daemons (demons). Aria is understandably confused and thinks it must be a prank, but everyone quickly reveals it isn’t. That magic, angels, and demons are real. Even more shocking, that fairytale she was told as a kid is actually about her. Aria doesn’t really want to go, but she chooses to go anyway after hearing the consequence for not going and that her older brother Damien will be a teacher there. At least she only has to be there for one year. A year that might not be the quiet school year Aria thought it would be, but it’s going to be even better as she’s in for romance, suspense, determination, mystery, and some revelations. There are a ton of choices scattered throughout the whole game, determining what Aria will say or do, but a lot of them are pretty meaningless. There are choices that are meaningful, though, and they are the ones where you’re asked whether you’re going to do something or not and puts you on the path to seeing the scene if you say yes (which there’s no reason not to). Strangely enough, though, with the choices that involves picking who to hang out with you can do all of them until the very last choice, even if it ends with you making out with all of them or that it was a time sensitive matter. Some choices will also put you down a bad end, which there are 23, and there are some sneaky ones. Just be sure to save/quick save often. I honestly loved the story here. It does well in balancing the fluffy scenes with the scenes that process character relationships, characterization, and story. I never felt like any of the scenes dragged on for too long or were boring. It was entertaining throughout. I really liked the humor, especially since it does play on the character’s personality or the interactions between characters, and they picked great reoccurring jokes (and on that note, it hits the perfect balance in terms of how much they get used). The story is also really great. It’s really engaging, I was on the edge of my seat wanting to know what’s going to happen next, and I didn’t want to tear myself away so I could eat or sleep. I also did enjoy learning about the game’s world. It was interesting learning about the Angelus and Daemon Realms, the magic system, and it was clever having the game set in an Academy with a main character that is learning about it with you. It also helps that the information is integrated well as I never felt like I was being lectured to. The only downside is that there are some things that remain unresolved by the end. There is an upside though: there already is a sequel! Check out the review on my website to see a more in-depth review of Celestia: Chain of Fate! I also enjoyed all the characters. The side characters were all written well. Like, you do get a sense that Aria’s adopted family loves each other and how Aria’s two rivals are such great hate sinks while also giving you a pause when they do something not so terrible. Aria, herself, is a lovely protagonist and while I’m a bit disappointed her being half Daemon and half Angelus doesn’t play that much into how she’s treated, she’s a bright person who doesn’t let all her worries and doubts get to her and falls in love quickly. And on that topic, I ended up quickly loving all the LIs. They were all fun to be around and I loved the dynamic they all had with each other and Aria. Though, I have to admit, the amount of romantic scenes did end up wearing me down. There are so many romantic and sweet scenes and it doesn’t help that you get them back to back with each LI due to this not being structured as a common route splitting into multiple character routes. This also does cause aspects that would have been able to be more fleshed out to just be surface level. I gushed at them all and I know each of the scenes happen differently, but it does get same-y, predictable, and doesn’t feel like the relationship progresses much. Like every game, there are some negatives:

No autosaves (which was especially needed with the bad ends being implemented)
Memories chapter select only plays that chapter in isolation with default 0% Affection
Affection meter is inaccurate. Couldn’t get Val’s last romance scene with max Affection, but could on my next playthrough with 74% (no idea what I missed in my first playthrough)
Skip function can be a bit finnicky

Verdict
I loved Celestia: Chain of Fate. I do have gripes with it, which ended up being mostly due to this originating as one of the stories on an app with monetization, but I still loved it. The story is engaging, the contents is so fluffy, the characters are all well written, the love interests were all wonderful, the humor did hit for me, the music is great, the artwork is beautiful, and the localization was actually pretty good. I knew I’d like this game based on the demo, but I never expected to like it as much as I did. Celestia: Chain of Fate’s origin as a mobile game doesn’t do it any favors, but I have to say that I do recommend picking this up if you’re looking for a new otome and the premise interests you. Hopefully, the demo stays up after it releases so those unsure could try it out. Also, I really hope that this means that not only will the sequel be brought over to PC and Switch, but also the two other otome stories under the Memories app. I had no idea the app existed until I happened to stumble on the website and I don’t exactly have a phone I can game on. Aria can keep the love interests... CAN I HAVE HER BROTHER, PLEASE?? Or her dad! Or that wolf dude in the alley. Or even the academy teacher, he's pretty fine too! Why is everyone so handsome here??? HELP????
TLDR: It's decent. More tame (censored) than the original. You can get a good 30 some hours from it. If you're new to this game, and going in blind; its cute. Bright, colorful, and engaging. A decent attempt at balancing humor and drama, and making memorable characters; all while *not* restricting you to a single love interest route until the very end. Pretty much the same as it was in their app, only with updates to visuals (characters are not animated anymore) and a much faster movement of the story (you no longer make outfit choices and the like). All portions of the story are no longer being locked behind the mobile game's version of gems for choices; but its all censored to change the rating. ie: every single sex scene is gone. However, I'm glad they stuck with their original method and not character themed routes when they released this for the PC. I know that won't be to everyone's taste, especially if you are someone who is classically monogamous, or lgbtqa+ upsets you. Drawbacks are: -That it is blindingly bright at some points with no ability to change that setting. -There's a lot of pointless sparkles, bubbles, and whatever in every single romance scene, to which there are an abundance of. -Skip function has some issues. -One of the romances has a glitch where he doesn't function properly as a final choice despite having high affection (-ahem- Val). -The side stories fail to save the player name and use the default. -There are still the same translation errors as the mobile game. -The romance happens very quickly, and the Mc is too passive. This will piss off slow-burn and realism fans. -97% of all your choices in the game don't matter at all. -It is in a tell don't show format, often making you annoyed when the same thing is told to you over and over despite its clear obviousness. -Anyone seeking its sequel will be met with extreme displeasure, as it was discontinued a long time ago, and never finished. Overall, its okay. Something to do for a few hours. Some of their cgs are pretty.
