CAYNE is a free science fiction horror adventure developed and published by THE BROTHERHOOD that proves a compelling experience does not require a premium price tag. Set within the same universe as STASIS but designed as a standalone story, the game introduces players to Hadley, a pregnant woman who awakens inside a sinister research facility with no memory of how she arrived there. As she searches for answers, it becomes clear that the people behind the facility have disturbing intentions involving both her and her unborn child. This gripping premise immediately creates a feeling of vulnerability that remains at the heart of the experience from beginning to end. The narrative is one of the game's greatest strengths, relying on slow-building tension instead of constant action. Every room, document, and conversation gradually uncovers the truth behind the grotesque experiments and mysterious organization controlling the facility. Rather than overwhelming players with lengthy exposition, the story encourages careful exploration and observation, rewarding those who pay attention to environmental details and subtle clues. The result is a mystery that remains engaging throughout its runtime while successfully expanding the larger lore of its universe without requiring players to have experienced STASIS beforehand. Gameplay follows the traditions of classic point-and-click adventures, combining exploration, inventory management, and environmental puzzles. Players must investigate every location, gather useful objects, solve logical challenges, and interact with advanced technology to progress. The puzzles are thoughtfully designed, typically requiring observation and reasoning rather than random experimentation. Their difficulty remains approachable while still providing enough challenge to keep players invested, ensuring that the gameplay complements the unfolding story instead of interrupting its pacing. The presentation is remarkably polished, especially considering the game is completely free. The detailed isometric environments capture a disturbing blend of futuristic technology and biological horror, with every corridor and laboratory filled with unsettling visual details. High-quality lighting, richly textured backgrounds, and well-animated character models create an immersive atmosphere that consistently reinforces the game's oppressive mood. The artistic direction successfully balances beauty and horror, making exploration both captivating and deeply uncomfortable. Sound design contributes just as much to the experience as the visuals. Professional voice acting gives emotional weight to the characters, while the soundtrack uses restrained music and unsettling ambient effects to maintain constant tension. Mechanical noises, eerie echoes, and moments of silence combine to create a lingering sense of dread that never feels forced. Instead of relying heavily on jump scares, the game builds psychological horror through atmosphere, making each discovery feel increasingly unsettling as the mystery unfolds. Another impressive aspect is the amount of content offered at no cost. CAYNE includes full voice acting, cinematic sequences, achievement support, high-definition visuals, and compatibility across multiple operating systems. The availability of optional downloadable content allows players to support the developers without restricting access to the complete core experience. This generous approach highlights the passion behind the project and demonstrates the studio's confidence in the quality of its work. While the adventure is relatively short, its concise length prevents unnecessary filler and keeps the story moving at a satisfying pace. Some experienced adventure game players may find the puzzles less demanding than expected, but the emphasis remains firmly on narrative progression and atmospheric immersion. Every location serves a purpose, every puzzle advances the plot, and every revelation adds another layer to the disturbing mystery surrounding Hadley's desperate escape. CAYNE succeeds as both a memorable standalone horror adventure and an excellent introduction to THE BROTHERHOOD's science fiction universe. Its gripping story, intelligent puzzle design, exceptional audiovisual presentation, and consistently oppressive atmosphere combine to create an experience that rivals many commercial adventure games despite being free. Anyone who enjoys narrative-driven horror, thoughtful exploration, and classic point-and-click gameplay will find plenty to appreciate. Although its brief runtime leaves players wanting more, the overall quality makes it an easy recommendation for fans of atmospheric science fiction and psychological horror. Rating: 8/10

nice
In CAYNE, pregnancy's the spookiest it's been since Alien in a horror/sci-fi story. The narrative is a bit silly in places and therefore is less impactful than STASIS (let alone Bone Totem), but it's a good take on gross body horror. If you liked the original game or Bone Totem, give this one a try too.
+ A short free game that is OK
Nach Bone Totem musste ich das hier auch Spielen. War zwar der Schwächste Teil aber für Free. Why not
не поня тно что хотят от меня
ничего не понятно, но очень интересно
Mysterious guy(Cayne) deserve and Oscar Emmy Acting award for catfishing me and Hadley deserve better fate. Overall very gloomy and dystopia Storyline but i love it not every single character is likeable in this facillities.
It's a pretty good point-and-click game for a free one. You essentially walk around and solve problems at the station. The game feels like a horror game, and you can occasionally encounter screamers. The downsides include the rather awkward controls, and the game itself is very short, taking up to two hours to complete. My rating: ✭✭✭✰✰
What I played so far I enjoyed very much. Amazing atmosphere.
