CATRUN is a "template" flip. The "developer" filled out a basic template in the craptastic node-webkit/NW.js (a blight on gaming), changed the name/reskinned a couple of things, and put it on Steam as if it was their own game. CATRUN is yet another construction kit template copy+paste from serial shovelware pushers, My Way Games. These guys do nothing but copy premade game templates and game tutorials, fill out a few things/stamp out basic levels using the construction kit templates, slap on an asset flipped set of sprites/assets, and dump them on Steam and into cheap nasty shovelware game bundles as cash grabs. Trying to get paid for someone else's game templates, assets... at best, this is shovelware, at worst, it's a scam/cash grab. This time, My Way Games have just come up with a barebones endless runner with some flipped assets on it... this is yet another "minimum viable product". Yes, you could "play" it, but this is one of the lamest experiences you could get... it was never intended to be an actual game, it's just another Russian cash grab. Lola Fisher/My Way Games have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 130,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian asset flippers and review manipulators who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically. Whether these connections are the same developer using multiple accounts, or just working closely with other unethical developers, gamers should be warned about the harm to gamers by this developer and their associates. Buying games from unethical developers puts your money at risk.
Warning: Review Manipulation! This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian, broken English or ChatGPT AI slop, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Due to the 2024 FTC ruling (16 CFR Part 465), these fake reviews are a violation of US Federal Law.
So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 130,000+ games on Steam? CATRUN is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 14,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Tiny (very tiny to tell the truth) fun game. It's a runner platform with a cute cat as protagonist, the runner formula is the classic, but with a pleasant twist: in addition to the jump our hero has the possibility of "fall acceleration" that is vital to carry on the game. Simple but entertaining title, only minus for some people the shortness... but for under one buck I feel to recommend the game.
You can beat it in under 10 minutes. the same music plays. the music is ok. the difficulty jumps up a little here and there, but aside from that the rest is basically autoplay. I do not believe that the collectibles do anything. There is no real content here. It is just a cute little game that you prolly will not revisit. The sprite work however is pretty solid and is consistent. Their other games look much funner then this one.
This is a basic copy-paste template of a runner platformer game. The effort put in the game is practically null. I got it mainly as a joke when bored out of my mind to kill 15 minutes of time which is about how long the duration of the game is. You can compare it a bit to the Dino Run game on your browser when your internet dies but with platforms, useless pickups, no sound effects and it's a cat instead. This is just a cash grab from a few years ago so unless you're willing to spend a buck for a laugh and install this rather shady game for 15 minutes of the same dull gameplay; find something else.
Just doesn't worth. I just don't get how this dev "Lola Fisher" manage to buy steam slots to publish those things that probably didnt take more than a couple hours to make, but didn't manage to buy at least one month of subscription of the engine(which cheap) and do just a little better work. Not even the controls make sense, you use the key "S" to interrupt the jump and "control the higher" when all it needs its put one single value on the engine and you be able to make this in a correct way controling the jump by the time you hold the button jump. As it should be. Literally, just click in the check box and put a value below. The cover art actually is the best thing here. It's cute
A bit boring game. Although can't expect much from a 1€ game. But if you like cats and running, maybe this is your game.
It's not so easy for the carefree cat Phillip to survive in a big city. Danger lurks around every corner: both fierce wolves and dangerous traps can take his nine lives.
