fiddly, janky, and the best $25 i ever spent I wish the documentation was more thorough, but learning and experimenting has been soooo much fun. definitely has it's quirks and limitations, but honestly the synth alone is worth it.
It's insane what this program is capable of for how cheap it is. It emulates effects that would otherwise cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars to do with hardware. Incredible.
rad program if it were more user friendly and if there were actual tutorials that went deeper then a 5 min breif over the entire program. I am new to cathodemer but not to video synths. but the lack of help makes this program a waste of money for the reasons i got it. I was hoping to be able to synthesize live using midi mapping but without having the program memorized its useless to map. Are there any videos out there that actually teach how to use this or am i dreaming to big?
I make video art for commercial and personal work, for the past 7ish years I've had access to a array of LZXT synths and TAKYON boxes from working with an array of artists over the years and nothing can compares to Cathodemer. It's not a true replacement to pure analog synth modules from the past but an excellent example of what can be made with the computer in the world of Video Synth Art. You could fork out thousands on synths, mixers and cameras but Cathodemer is a perfect solution for all of that for a cool 25 dollars if your on a budget and already have a plethora of midi gear and webcams!
another steam program that looks awesome with no documentation.. im not going to waste countless hours desperately trying to learn it and scour the internet for forums im just gonna refund it. everything i got out of it was very cool, very nice graphics but i cant manage to make it do the one thing i want, saving myself the headache
I run this on Linux, and it works fairly well out of the box. I run my synthesizers into it with a mixer, and it works very well. I can get some cool effects happening on the video output along with the music. It's SUPER fun to explore, and learn how it works. Occasionally, it crashes, and there are some bugs, the GUI is really not the most intuitive. Overall, there is a learning curve and challenges along the way, but as someone said on another review, it really is worth it.
Neat software, but buggy and seemingly unfinished. Dev is willing to accept your money for it but unwilling to fix any bugs or continue development in any way.
Its cool but it's not a justifiable purchase when it crashes as much as it does
I have no idea what I'm doing or how this program works, but whatever it is, it's really cool. Syncs with my drum machine and synths, and puts weird shapes onto videos of my cat. 11/10, would buy again.
It's... Amazing. I'm a DP and this is just... Amazing! It's fun for casuals and flat out indispensable for professionals. I'm only a couple hours in right now and it's so powerful. If you understand the terminology, that does help, but just messing about is really, really fun.
