The game is actually interesting and kind of fun. But the Generative AI "art" really hurts this game from being anything enjoyable. Using AI art is art theft and anti art. I hope the developers throw out all the Gen AI slop and hire real artists.
I don't care how much they polish it. Use of AI art is abominable.

-Terrible and unintuitive UI. -Regular dc's from servers. -Buttons that dublicate each other (e.g. create report) or doing nothing (e.g. switch deck). -Needless and abundant actions (e.g. double confirmation to begin a match). Btw, if you clicked on 'decline' the game will say to you 'you are a bad person, declining a match can make other people sad, don't even try to do it again or we will punish you'. FOR REAL? -Slow animations taking lots of time of your turn. -No alarm before the end of turn. Well... there is now- a VERY quiet ticking. -'Collection' button that lead to NO CARD COLLECTION MENU, instead it opens 'PLAYER PROFILE'. And the plate with your nickname on the main screen DOES NOTHING. -Special effects of DIFFERENT keywords aren't recognizeable upon each other (like Dome and Spellbreak or Solace) or not visibly distinguished without reading the card text over and over (like Fortitude or No Pain). -Cloak protecting FROM AOE EFFECTS though it states 'can't be targeted'. We already have Dome, the heck we need another one doing the same, but better? Text and rules in this game are dumb and counterintuitive. -Cloak in general is THE STRONGEST keyword since there is only ONE counter to it- reveal. And one time companion power. You can't even attack and silence the being with weapon unlike Dome or anything else. -Some keywords are not explained (like Debut). -Some mechanics are HS-like: you can't understand how it works frm the shear text, you need to actually play the card. E.g., the card says 'return your card to your hand, or opponents card in their hand STOP increase it's cost by 2'. The STOP means THIS effects is applied after the one in the previous sentence. But not in this game, because increase cost is only applied to opp's cards. Another example. Echo triggers when a card is drawn but NOT via 'standart draw'. What does that mean is not, of course, explained. And if you like me thought that 'standart draw' means 'in the beginning of a turn' you are wrong. Because Uno Nomesta can draw cards when takes damage and once per round if no mana were spent, and THESE are considered standard draw. I got it, that adventurer would be much stronger in heavy echo deck, but can you then explain the words and phrases you use i your text?! Another card gaind local 'taunt' effect when it's adventurer is ATTACKED, but it triggers on any other damage as well. -If your card's cost changes, it isn't counted in 'play X-cost cards' quests when played. BUT its increased or decreased cost provides more or less mana respectfully when sacrificed. -Btw, 'metal helmet' is a shield. -Terrible daily quests, some of them require hours to be done. Do you really think people will waste THAT much time in your 99%-made-by-AI game copying Legends of Runeterra and Hearthstone? -3 deck slots by default. THREE, CARL! -No hint on number of cards in deck and GY while pointing at them, you need to click the GY to see, and the deck... well, you don't need that info, player. -[this one is not valid, at least for now] I play Ranked and my MMR grows, but it says 'unranked, 0' while loading into the battle. -A lot of space EVERYWHERE that is unoccupied. -Battleground is freaking yellowish and all the same. It's pain for eyes to look at. AND when a card is playable it is highlighted IN YELLOW AS WELL! More than that. The rims of cards shown are sooo long, that the game highlights them as well, unless you draw your coursor to it. -2.5 cheapest boosters per day IF you managed not to die from monotonous matches lasting for hours due to mana system increasing it each turn by 1 untill it's 5 and after that by 1 EACH 2 TURNS, so your high cost cards will rot in your hand forever. And those boosters are the cheapest and worse one. And you know how many cards are there in such a booster? THREE. Btw, NEVER BUY the cheapest ones, it's just wasting of crowns. -[this one is not valid, at least for now] There is a bug happening SOOOO FREQUENTLY- your being can't attack face (and sometimes even other beings) though it has no restrictions or negative effects. -It's almost always unclear, if you've pressed end turn or not. -Some clickable points are not clickable actually (like portrait next to your nick during match (while you opponent's one is clickable to mute) or 'i' symbols during match search (yeah they show info BEFORE (never after) you choose a game mode (why?), but they are actually clickable) -It's impossible to acquire epics and legendaries. The chance is low, that's not news. THE NEWS is there is no wild cards or dust or similar mechanic to disenchant cards, so you may end up having 100000 copies of a common and you can't get rid of them. Thus there is even no need to give you high rarity cards.. unless you pay in real money, ofcourse, and pay a lot. And yes, there is no 'every 24 pack cointains at least 1 guaranteed legendary card' stuff from... you know... fair, player-oriented and massive online games aiming to the future have. I 've opened more than 100 different boosters by now. 5 epics and 1 legendary (from a non-buyable chest!). -Abusable MMR. Players get +/- 10 or a bit more points after wins/loses. YET one can just surrender in the beginning of the match and lose 44 points instantly ('ooh, you quit the match too soon, here is your punishment') and indefinitely to drop down to 0 to farm on novices with OP cards and mechanics they aren't used to. -Fraud random. There is a card that banishes 1 RANDOM card from opponent's hand every round. Guess what, EVERY TIME this freaking card banishes my Inquisitor EXACTLY FIRST. Another example. 1-cost card that generates 2 andom spells and makes them cheaper. Guess what, it pretty freaquently generates EXACTLY 2 3-cost cards applying panic (both useless most of the time). Do you really believe OTHER instances of 'RNG' in this game are fair, e.g. cards from boosters?.. -Players at higher MMR use more or less same strategy- play as few units sp possible, use tons of AOE and target removals not to let you do anything (esp. considering companions ingore all protections) and then use combo haste+12/12 that kills low hp enemies+return to hand+play again to OTK you. Because this game is full of OP cards to do that. Over and over. Boring as hell to play against, requires no brain or luck at all to play as. -Of course, there are bugs from time to time, big and small. A text of poison says 'take 1 damage at the start of your turn'. Yet the creature may not take dmg at all. -Absolutely broken cards. Like 2 cost 2 damage to all enemies. WHAT IS THAT?! Or how about 2 cards to compare. One costs 3 and gives +3/+1 every turn. Another one costs 4 and gives +1/+1 ONE TIME- after summoning. How is it possible that cheaper card is THAT MUCH stronger?! And the list may go on and on, actually. Because we can touch the companions and adventurers. for example, that can only be acquired separately from cards via random drop from costy boosters that have NO CARDS IN. And those com-s and adv-s are either completely useless (some may be used in THE certain strategy and nowhere else) or absolutely broken. E.g. there is an Adventurer that marks cards in your deck and gets a copy when you draw them. And the process is infinite- he marks new cards every round and produces infinite number of value out of nowhere, just because. Just compare the power level- your adventurer gets 1 less damage or ENDLESS VALUE. And if it's Ok with you, how about another one that returns his creatures to his hand to clear your creatures with 'deal 2 damage to all opponent's beings' cards ENDLESSLY? And of course since a very few people are playing... Well, I was regularly matched 100 MMR against 300 and even 500+. At 500 MMR I'm matched with 1500 MMR now. Just imagine the difference in deck power (and mind we both are willing to win and raise MMR). All in all, devs expect you to waste hours doing quests to get cards/adv-s/comp-s that will drop as doubles without any chance to recycle them.
While being just another card game without any noteworthy unique gameplay aspects the first impression CoE leaves are the absolutely fantastic artworks and a solid licence. The game itself though feels rather unitutive with a noticeable Pay2Win focus where Aether Games actually ask 100$ for a single character and companion in the shop which are two red flags to me as it not only indicates a certain unbalance of gameplay elements but also that they intend to absolutely milk people willing to invest into their game. Playing with the beginner deck I already get constantly matched against opponents way out of my league who have epic or legendary characters, companions and cards and unfortunately these characters not only offer a different gamestyle or more interesting deck combinations but are blatantly stronger. The battlefields themselve appear overloaded with stuff, lights and ornaments all cramped into a tight space while neither the battlefields themselves nor the placement of companions appear fitting or immersive. Most creature cards come with a wall of text of effects and spell effects take place so fast that you struggle to comprehend what spell was just casted and what effects just took place.
I wish I could like this game more, I love the setting and really enjoy card games so I'm definitely the target market for this but the utter lack of single player option makes this game unplayable to me. Legends of runeterra has a similar game but with an entire mode called path of champions. I get to scratch my card game itch without having to deal with some random asshat named saggy balls ruining my day. I encourage the developers to look into it.
The game was abandoned by the devs.
The game looks stunning with beautiful card designs and an immersive soundtrack that brings The Wheel of Time to life. The gameplay feels strategic and engaging, making every match exciting to play.
Just spent some time trying this out and thought I'd leave some feedback. The game is early access still, and there are updates being made, so this review acts as a state of things at this point in time. From the short time I've played, these are my observations: Pros: Immersive Atmosphere: The game nails the series' vibe with its art and music. I really like it. Mechanics: Features like Companions and Sacrifice Crystals are interesting. The tutorial does a decent job highlighting the mechanics. I can tell that this game is trying to have its own identity here. Game Progression: I haven't gotten far, but from observation, there is a fair bit of progression available. I do like the calendar freebies. I think that is a great idea for player retention. Simple UI: The interface is easy to navigate. I didn't have any issues with it while playing. Cons: Performance Issues: Animations can be clunky. Some of the sounds didn't seem to synchronize right with what was visually on the screen. Lack of Polish: Playing the game, it felt a bit outdated compared to more popular TCGs. I imagine the game will get more polished as time goes, but the experience made me feel like I was playing something dated. Monetization Concerns: Speaks for itself. I haven't progressed far enough in the game to see how balanced this is. From what other people say, it seems to be generally disliked. Early Access: Games like this perform better when fully developed and released. This will effect the longevity of the game unfortunately. Overall, I give the game a soft recommendation. If you like TCGs, I think it would be fun to play for a bit. The progression system appears to benefit those who play a bit each day. This game still needs time to bake of course, but this being said, I hope to encourage the Devs to keep going. Keep the updates coming.
