Wow, what a fall. What used to be an amazing program to locally keep whole worlds organized is now a defunct piece of software killed by greed. Normally with software like this, you have a Free version and an upgraded version that contains all of the bells and whistle. Although it sucks, its not uncommon for a free version to go unsupported in favor for the paid version. HOWEVER This is not the case with this program. USERS PAID A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY JUST FOR THIS PROGRAM TO IMMEDIATELY GET A NEW VERSION THAT IS EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE. So the greedy devs behind this program stopped and thought, how do we get these users to use our new product? Oh, lets just no longer support it! Oh wait, they're still using it? Eff it, make it so you have to DISABLE YOUR FIREWALL UNDER THE GUISE OF SAYING STEAM FAMILY IS CAUSING A FAILURE TO AUTHENTICATE WITH STEAM. This is egregious and if anything, should make this program an Overwhelmingly Negative due to the anti-user practices put into place from this company.

This program no longer works properly on Steam. Many people seem to be having the same problem. The developers have promised non-steam versions for those who bought this version. I have seen discussions where the users still have not received their non-steam version. I would recommend finding a different program if you can.
As$holes screwed us over. Is this what you will do to Campfire Blaze users as well? Eventually $crew them over as well??
It no longer works. What a waste of money. GREEDY.
Abandoned for greedy subscription model. To rub salt in the wound, this version no longer works.
Not worth reviewing, since they discontinued support for this product and have effectively outmoded Campfire Pro. We, the customers, were promised that we could keep using this product in perpetuity as long as we had bought it previously. When the devs launched Blaze (which became the dumpsterfire of cost that Campfire online subscription service is now), they discounted Campfire Pro and its DLC (the Worldbuilding pack being the one I purchased). I bought it then and fell in love. I liked the bare bones program that was unique enough it didn't feel as if I was building my world compendium on my own, without it being so branded it lost utility. I spent hours on this program (I can't account for why Steam only says 11 hours of use on this product) and had a very comprehensive worldbuilding compendium; and then my disabilities worsened so much that I was unable to read or write for most of the last 3 years. I was excited to come back now in a more stable place with my health, but the program, like other reviewers have stated, will not open and has some nonsense pop-up about "Family View" (a feature I have never and will never need to use and therefore is not applicable as to why this program will not work). I also have changed computers since last I used this, so I lost everything once the cloud storage for the program went down. I might try the free version of the subscription website, but I worry that my content will not be my own and/or I will waste time using it and end up needing to just go back to a primary Google Doc in the end anyway. Maybe I will scope out what is useful to me and use it as a template for my own compendium since they removed my ability to use the one I paid for. This I suppose is the lesson about digital products versus physical ones. I buy physical for my Switch to avoid unfortunate circumstances like this. Wish that was something that still existed for PC.
Devs abandoned it, and pulled it from steam to charge $420 USD for an HTML version with pay per word, sub fees and microtransactions
Shady dev who ripped off everyone who bought this on Steam to support them, abandoned their steam software, and started a subscription service so they could make more money.
It was a good program but was abandoned and removed from steam by devs for a greedy subscription version online. You are capable of opening it if you bought it but who knows when it will be before it no longer works.
