Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront

Great game. It's clearly a labour of love. Both to historical interest and gaming. At the intersection of both those areas, this game stands. I mean the game is so obviously made by ww2 history nerds (in the best of ways). So much detail in the units and such-like. Personally It's level of detail is probably at the exquisitely fine edges of how much detail I like versus it being a playable, not overly-complicated game. I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love the fact that this game is physics based (i think it might be? i watched a video that described it that way once). like if you dude is laying down in a trench bullets wont magically go through metres of ground to hit him. nevermind the LOS mechanics. Shells puncturing tanks and hitting those specific components, and killing crew in specific locations that you hit. I dunno, so many cool things about this game. but a big one is that it is just really satisfying to play. the hits feel like they really hit, taking out a tank with a well placed shot or two... If you like ww2, even casually, and enjoy playing rts games, its worth giving this game a good go. If you only play really well developed and polished RTS games then maybe give this a miss. but if you can deal with a little jank and not full polish then dive in. tbf this game is reasonably polished compared to men of war game i played (one of the game before this one). If you're having trouble with the game early on search up a couple beginner guides or just do the tutorial. it pays dividends!
