🎮 Reseña de Burly Men at Sea

The music is the highlight of this one.
The gameplay and story took a bit time to get used to, but after that I enjoyed it. There are 12 possible endings which you can play in any order. After having played a part of the story, part of the dialogues will change and some cutscenes are shorter so it's not as tedious as I expected to get all endings. Still there are some parts i wish they had shortened. Story is not as interesting but i was entertained enough by the dialogues, characters and possible choices. Also I loved the funny sound effects. Game is short and it takes around 3h to go through all endings and choices.
After 8 min of game play I already can't stand the controls which cause the game to be miserable to play. (only way that the game is bearable to play is by using cheat engine to do a speed hack to do a 10x speed so that animations don't take forever
Introduction
Burly Mean at Sea is a stylish mix between a visual novel and a point and click adventure.
Pros & Cons
Pros: + Stylish minimalistic graphics + Nice soundtrack Cons: - Boring gameplay - Unskippable cutscenes - Little to no gameplay
Story
You play as three fishermen looking for an adventure. And they find not the one but the whole twelve of them. The adventure always begins with their ship being swallowed by the whale. There are multiple ways out of this situation, and the one you choose will determine the next scene. There, you will also find yourself in a situation where you can choose a path, which will lead to different situations, and so on. The lack of a global goal and unpredictable outcomes of your actions makes it feel like you’re reading a book for children. After reaching the end, the game offers you to try out different actions and starts up again. It gets boring pretty fast as you can’t skip cutscenes, you’ve already seen. All in all, I’ve found the story disjointed and, on subsequent playthroughs, pretty boring.
Gameplay
It is a kind of point and click adventure, but there are little to no puzzles here. So, it feels more like an interactive book. Can’t say much about it.
Graphics & Audio
The stylish visuals are what drove me to play this game (and the fact that I was reading Moby ♥♥♥♥ at the time). Well, the game does look nice. It provides this kind of warm, cozy feeling. The sound effects and music are great. It is very pleasing to listen to this game. However, there’s not enough soundtrack to cover all the 12 possible adventures. The soundtrack started to get on my nerves after finishing the half of them. There’s also no voice acting.
Performance
Specs: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU 8GB, 32GB RAM. The game’s framerate is fixed at 30 FPS. The game runs flawlessly without any issues. It also doesn’t feature any graphical settings.
Conclusion
Burly Mean at Sea is a visually and aurally pleasing game, but the story and gameplay are lacking. It might be a good game to play with your little children, but for anyone who played video games before, I would not recommend it.
This game slaps.
A charming and delightful little adventure
Na krótkie granie w sam raz, spokojne, relaksacyjne opowieści. Minimalistyczna grafika nie męczy.
This is an unexpectedly clever and cute point-and-click adventure game, simple enough a young child can get through it.
