Review: Burger Joint Simulator – A Fun Concept, but Full of Bugs Burger Joint Simulator offers an engaging premise where players can take charge of running their own burger joint, from crafting delicious burgers to serving customers in a bustling kitchen. At first glance, the game looks appealing, with vibrant graphics and a fun, fast-paced vibe. However, the experience is marred by a significant number of bugs and technical issues that seriously hinder the overall enjoyment. The Good: Let’s start with the positives. The game’s visuals are definitely one of its strong points. The cartoonish, colorful style adds a lot of personality to the game, and it’s clear that a lot of thought went into designing the restaurant, customers, and kitchen stations. The concept itself is fun: managing a burger joint, handling orders, and trying to keep customers happy is enjoyable when the game works as it should. The basic gameplay mechanics are also pretty straightforward and easy to grasp, which is ideal for both casual gamers and those looking for a fun time management experience. However, these strengths are overshadowed by the technical issues that plague the game. The Bad: Unfortunately, Burger Joint Simulator is rife with bugs and glitches that make it frustrating to play: Getting Stuck Outside: One of the first issues I encountered was getting stuck after walking outside to check out the food truck. It seems like there’s a navigation glitch that doesn't let you move past a certain point, forcing you to restart or quit the game entirely. No Save Function: A major issue is the inability to save your progress. After spending a lot of time building up my burger empire, it’s incredibly annoying to have to restart each time the game crashes or I have to quit unexpectedly. This is a huge oversight in a game where players might want to play for extended periods. Mornings Are Messy: Every time I started a new day in the game, there was garbage on the tables. It felt like a bizarre inconsistency in the game’s flow, as there’s no reason why this should happen on repeat. It’s also a small detail that undermines the game's sense of cleanliness and organization. Broken Cash Register: There was an instance where two customers suddenly paid at the same time, causing my cash register to glitch out. I clicked the "cash" and "card" options, but the register wouldn’t respond, leaving me unable to complete the transaction. This is a game-breaking bug that can ruin the flow of a level, especially when time is of the essence. Tutorial Problems: The tutorial, which is supposed to guide you through the basics, doesn't account for mistakes. If you accidentally perform the wrong action, the tutorial refuses to continue, making it impossible to proceed or learn how to properly play the game. Translation Issues: While the game is available in Dutch, the translation isn’t perfect. There are several awkward phrases and incorrect wording that can confuse players, especially when trying to follow instructions or understand certain mechanics. Dishwashing and Serving Plate Issues: One strange design choice is the use of a single tray for both cleaning up and serving food. This feels unhygienic and awkward, as it’s not clear why one tray should serve both purposes. It also adds unnecessary complexity to the gameplay, as you're constantly juggling tasks with limited resources. Final Thoughts: Burger Joint Simulator has a lot of potential with its fun premise and appealing graphics, but the constant technical issues and bugs make it a frustrating experience. The inability to save progress, broken interactions with customers and the cash register, and inconsistent tutorial instructions are major turn-offs. While the game might still be enjoyable for players willing to overlook these problems, it’s hard to recommend it in its current state. Hopefully, the developers address these issues in future updates, as the concept is promising and could shine with a little more polish. Pros: Great visual design and fun concept. Easy-to-learn gameplay for casual players. Cons: Frequent bugs and glitches. No save feature. Tutorial breaks when mistakes are made. Translation errors in the Dutch version. Odd game design choices (e.g., using one tray for both cleaning and serving). Until the bugs are fixed, Burger Joint Simulator feels like a great idea stuck in a frustrating, unfinished state.
