First off, thank you to the devs for letting me win a free key through Instagram! The art is cute, the soundtrack is to die for, and the character controls rather well. I haven't been playing long, but I do enjoy the game, and I am curious about the story thusfar. My current favorite part is where the game had me assemble the plant pod and (i forgot the cannon title for it but) the rover we will be using to make the planet green, but I am not far in and I have full confidence they can top that. Furthermore, the game is shockingly well optimized. I managed to get it running on a laptop with the wrong processor, and yet it took a while for it to begin to lag. It took me an hour to complete the intro, and it only started lagging near the end. Though, unfortunately, when I interacted with the cave's exit I crashed. This is likely due to my laptop lacking what is required to run the game, so honestly the fact I got as far as I did without checking I had what I needed is great as is and I will likely try the game again on a friend's PC later. I only have a few genuine criticisms as of right now, and with the game being as good as it already is they are far from detrimental. First is the lack of i-frames when the plant pod is hit, which allows it to take two hits in less than a second of each other from the same asteroid and makes keeping the plant alive much harder. If this was intended, I do appreciate the added difficulty but would like to at least have an easier difficulty option that allows the players to have those missing i-frames. Second is the way the game assumes the player knows the normal keyboard control scheme for similar games, not telling us what buttons do what- Which, although means nothing for seasoned gamers, makes it far less beginner friendly. Third is the lack of visible checkpoints nor info volunteered about them. I had no idea I would go back to a checkpoint upon death of Ponchee or the plant until it happened, and though it was a relief I would have still appreciated knowing so beforehand. Even if you decide against adding a visual denoting checkpoints, knowing they are there in the first place will make starting the first level less daunting. If you do add one, though, may I recommend bunny flags? Then, finally, is the lack of autosave. The game is in beta so this feature is likely still a WIP and ergo missing, but if you aren't planning to add one I would recommend reconsidering, as this lack (and primarily me not thinking to save at the end) made me lose my progress at the end of the cave.
really loved the puzzles! the desert area and the final location absolutely rule. you can’t save the whole world, but you can do what’s within your reach and these bunnies proved that to me
floppy world itself is stunning full of charming details, clever level design, and secrets that make exploration so rewarding the puzzles are just the right balance of challenging and satisfying, making every small victory feel meaningful.
сan’t stop thinking about flophop! the music is amazing, the world is gorgeous, the puzzles are clever, and ponchee’s journey is just so touching
