Ay yay yay.
This game looked really, really interesting, and I was really looking forward to playing it. A solo dev game like this? Gotta be a treat.
First things I noticed are Unity's trial version mark, as well as pretty barebones settings. The camera was a little wonky, but I didn't care.
The atmosphere is GREAT. You're walking alone in an empty (apparently?) bunker. Good stuff. It doesn't look like a videogame bunker, either - it feels just like a real thing, and the rooms are arranged in a realistic way.
So I'm walking around, exploring - oh, a locked door. I need a key. Alright then. I scoured the areas available to me, didn't find a key. I noticed my food/drink bars dropping, so I headed towards the pantry, ate up, then went to take a piss - I like the immersion, but the pissing takes WAY too long. Cmon.
Eventually I found an object that was apparently a key, I tried picking it up before and it didn't work - which is fine, but the problem was that the key was laying in its side. That means that looking at it from up, it was just a line. If you're having a hard time understanding what I mean, take your house key and flip it 90 degrees on the Z axis. Just a line. You'd have to see it from the side to see its a key.
So anyway, I opened the door, and eventually found a stack of boxes blocking another door. I painstakingly removed them with pretty bad controls and glitches, and then it turned out the door is jammed and I need a crowbar. Alright, fine. There was a tool room nearby, so I figured it would be there, right?
Wrong. I scoured the entire bunker 3 times. I didn't manage to find the crowbar anywhere. I'm sorry, dev. Two strikes, you're out. I got so desperate I started jumping on everything I could, just to see if the crowbar maybe was on top of something. But no dice, never found it.
So ultimately I didn't have fun. Which is a shame. This game with a bit of polish could be pretty great. Maybe a hint system? Maybe add outlines to objects you can pick up? Also maybe some controls explaination at the beginning (I had to look in the settings, that's never fun).
Maybe you can find the crowbar. In that case, knock yourself out. Solo devs should be rewarded for their efforts. I'm not refunding the game: keep the money, Alexei, and grow from it.
