This Horde Survivor (with restricted/limited content in EA v0.4) is very enjoyable und looks very promising. Gameplay reminds me of Soulstone Survivors but slower paced and in an dark horror setting (dark like Yet Another Zombie Survivors). Progression is based on class specific weapons and moveset. The Metaprogression is meaningful and has an impact on future runs. It is a fresh setting with very creative new ideas in a well known genre. Graphics are amazing for an horde survivor. Even on max Ultra settings the game runs smooth on my machine (14700K with RTX 4070S) in Ultrawide 3440x1440. WIth a screen full of enemies and explosions and lightning performance drops down to 40fps, but it is still absolutely fine playable. I prefer controller gameplay for twinsticks over mouse and keyboard with horde survivors. And in this game it works very well even in this early stage. The three Maps/Biomes are amazing and completely different. They have shared mob-type and different map-specific enemies. The different environments (i.e. burning trees/fire deals damage to player) have impact on playstyle and are not just cosmetic. They are also completely different in difficulty and deliver a good insight in the vision of the game. Atm I will run out of content after about 20 hours but the roadmap looks very promising: More charakters, more bosses, more maps, more meta-progression. The technichal foundation of Brutus Maximus in EA looks very stable and promising. The roadmap seems achieveable. Absolutely amazing for a One-Dev-Game. And the dev is very responsive and transparent about his work and game here on Steam Discussion and via Discord. Edit: "Lategame" -with many skills and many enemies- I encountered last five minutes in a level some serious framerate issues with drops down to 15fps. Lowering graphic details did not make it better. It is EA not not a big deal, could be optimized. Just to clarify as I praised the good performance in my review.
I watched Idle Cub play this and wasn’t initially sold, but after trying the demo, I bought it instantly. Yes, it’s in Early Access, and I encountered some bugs, but that’s to be expected. For the price and the content it already offers, I can only recommend it!
This rogue-lite offers a lot of promise, even in its Early Access state. It already has three diverse classes, a great progression system, and replayability that keeps you hooked. While some features feel unfinished, the gameplay remains fun and rewarding.
Great balance of difficulty—not too easy but fair. The game’s replayability and meta-progression shine, though some features are still in development.
BUYER BEWARE, very early access. So early that the game's development direction may change significantly, i.e. the player upgrade system (cv / meta) That said, i really enjoy playing this game. I had 20+ hours in the demo and was very happy to see my progress carried over after buying the release. This is not a guarantee this will stay in future releases. Honestly, normally, i can or would not recommend any game in this early state.. However i am very pleased with the gameplay, the developer, it's feedback, the course of the game development. This recommendation is more a sign of gratitude and a "Thank you" to the developer, than me trying to tell anyone to buy this game already. Play the demo, wishlist the game on Steam. Buy it if you really love it after playing through the demo and believe you already had your money's worth, out of the demo. Like i did. Thank you Turbin / Superstructure Games (<- Developer)
It's got the basis of a great game if it didn't lock up and freeze every 15-20 minutes.
This game surprised me in the best way possible. I didn’t expect to get hooked, but the mix of intense combat, unique enemies, and quick decision-making kept me playing for hours. Bugs? Sure, it’s Early Access, but it’s totally worth it.
Ставлю отрицательный отзыв из за полной вторичности во всём и плохой оптимизации. Я играл в демо версию, купил полную версию, но понял, что эта игра не оправдывает её цены. Извините, но нет.
As an Early Access title, the game isn’t fully polished yet, but it’s already showing incredible promise. The three available classes feel unique, offering enough variety for players who love experimenting with different strategies. The difficulty is well-balanced, tough enough to keep you on your toes, but not so punishing that it feels frustrating. With high replayability and a rewarding meta-progression system, it’s a fantastic pick for rogue-lite fans. The recent performance improvements are noticeable, making the experience smoother and more enjoyable.
Probably my favorite VS-like at the moment. There's something about the combat's feel compared to others that really resonates with me. Dodging feels effective as you phase through enemies, deal damage as you go, and make meaningful decisions about when to act. Skills you choose tend to have a greater impact here than in many similar games. I also really enjoy the meta skill tree, though it could benefit from more passive skills.
