I played smash bros growing up and this is a lot like it even though everyone says its different to each individual. The game has a lot more nuances than smash and it makes it a lot of fun to play. It can get a bit addicting. It's best played with friends but there is a huge community. I found the community to be willing to play and teach you the game. Especially the Discord. I wish there was some sort of communication feature besides emotes in the game but I guess it keeps the games from getting heated/ the devs don't want to deal with it. I instantly fell in love with the game. The competition in it is insane. I bought all the characters trying to find one I would like. Ended up falling on someone I started off with and felt most comfortable with. I still think the free rotation is the best idea for most people. I jumped in. Don't. You can get all the characters for free if you play long enough. And you honestly won't play most of them unless you like doing the extra paid stuff for quests. There are a few characters that make certain (daily/battle pass) quests possible/easy to complete. There also is cross platform progression but it's kind of wonky. So I also can progress on my phone. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good fighting game that's in the style of smash and multiversus. It's F2P roster with characters that you buy with money you get from daily quests and matches, like most competitive fighting games. The roster is ever growing with each character manning two weapons from a list of possible armaments. The game has been around for years now and alternates its battle pass with past seasons.
