bratz 1000/10
It's nice to know that the developers were keeping adults and children with god-like rhythm game abilities in mind when creating this game. As an adult, this game is surprisingly difficult, and I have had previous experience playing anime rhythm games. There's two game mode difficulties, and the gameplay was hard sometimes even on the regular gameplay mode. Now, the game is SUPER easy to complete. Because it's Bratz, it's a game that children should be able to complete, so you can slam random keys on the keyboard and finish the whole game. What's difficult though is getting a 100% or even high score on both the pose battles and the "guitar hero" sections, which is part of completing the end game. The game is easy to beat but hard to perfect. Another part of the end game is doing pose duels, fashion tests, and gym levels, which will help you get to 100% achievement completion. It's a good game for the achievementmaxxers out there too. Not too easy, and not too hard. The fashion element was the main reason I bought this game and didn't disappoint me at all. I adore the various Y2K styles and the ability to change the colors of your clothing. I thought I would be annoyed at this being a fashion-and-rhythm game hybrid, but you can honestly focus on one element of the game more than the other while playing. While neither your outfits or rhythmic ability will prevent you from completing the game, but if you want to get 100% scores on everything you have to master both. The plot and dialogue of the game isn't anything amazing, but it's a lot of fun. The characters and their interactions are sooooo campy. The
Tweevils
bring the Y2K vibes to the max. I laughed at the dialogue a few times, and
the random lesbian misunderstanding subplot at the end between Roxxi and Nevra SENT me.
The only thing I disliked about the game was that it would freeze randomly on the loading screen until I assigned it to be played on the high-performance mode(AMD). Other people have mentioned bugs, but it got patched before I played it or I was luckily to not have run into them. It's an honor for my first serious steam review to go to a Bratz game. I came in expecting some silly fashion game and came out pleasantly surprised. Recommend if you like either fashion or rhythm games.
Pros: they finally listened to the criticisms of the first game and made changes that are reminiscent of PS2 games. Cons: waiting for the next update, there are so many bugs that at one point it stopped working on my PC lol
This game is overall great BUT.. the DAMN guitar hero is so hard dude. I don't know if I am just an idiot or what? I literally dread that part of the game and it takes me so many tries!
Es lindo visualmente y me gusto que haya tantos estilos de ropa, peinado y maquillajes para elegir. Esta bueno para pasar el tiempo.
A step towards the right direction compared to Flaunt Your Fashion
My expectations were at their lowest when I found out Rhythm & Style was released. I didn't like the previous Bratz game and expected to feel the same way about this one. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, it does not win Game of the Year or anything, but they have improved upon their mistakes with the last game and it's a step forward for if they come out with another Bratz game.
The pros and the improvements:
-Lots of clothing options to choose from and you can even change the colors of each clothing item. This makes playing dress up SO much fun! - Way more makeup options and different color variations of each to better suit your character based on their skin tone - Photo mode is way more fun to use. You can change their facial expressions, poses, and outfits - The game feels like there is way more to do rather than playing a walking simulator with fetch-quest mechanics. I finished this game in a day and 100%'d it happily - The Tweevils are back, as well as other side characters of the Bratz universe - They use actual vocal songs from various Bratz soundtracks for the 'guitar hero' levels (the song choice for the final level is AMAZING and perfectly fitting for an end to the game. I was pleasantly surprised.) - You can easily change which character you play as (a huge improvement from the last game, as this was a feature they implemented *after* launch) - No more tedious social media mechanics
The cons and need for improvement:
- Getting around the map can be tedious and there is no way to get around faster, unlike the last game (not sure why they didn't implement scooter rentals again...) - They still repeated male assets for NPCs (side eyeing the devs here as this was an issue in Flaunt Your Fashion...) - Having to mash buttons for my inputs to be read in Gym levels - For the competitive levels, if you are playing in hard difficulty, for some reason the levels get ridiculously fast paced in the final chapter. They expect you to interpret and press 5 buttons in the span of MAXIMUM 1.3 seconds. This is not exactly possible, and I say that as someone who excels in actually difficult rhythm games like DJMax Respect V. If you make more than 4 mistakes they will hit you with a game over. This is especially irritating for those who just want to get 100% achievement, so choose 'easy' difficulty if you don't care for a difficult time. While I do think this game could've been better in some areas, it is quite the step up from Flaunt Your Fashion and I had a fun time with it. I would recommend this game as a fun and cozy low-committal game that spans between 4-6 hours. I would steer clear from this game if you aren't very into playing dress up nor are you into rhythm games, as this game is primarily comprised of that. I would also highly recommend getting this on sale. It is not worth full price.
Very nostalgic with great songs. I really liked the Guitar Hero type mini game, the voice acting and music were well done, and overall I enjoyed the vibes. However, the Pose Duel mini game was way too frequent, there were a few too many drawn out fetch quests, and the animation was a bit cheap. Especially the lip-syncing was off, and there were clipping issues galore. The fashion was also not that trendy, a lot of 2000s core stuff which does appeal to older audiences playing, but with the gameplay being pretty simple and more targeted at kids, it seems like a mismatch. Did appreciate the inclusion of the canon queer couple and decent diversity with NPCs. It’s also a pretty short game, as in less than 9 hours I managed to do everything except play all the gym levels. All this wouldn’t be so bad if the game wasn’t 40€ at full price. Neither the quality of the animation nor the gameplay nor the length justify that price tag. I got the game for free so to me this was not relevant but to others it will. I’d say if you like Bratz and/or nostalgic simple rhythm games, wait for a sale.
Game sucks butt- Waste of money and time- Would rather play COD
