Sadly didn't play the extension version, but I saw it came out on steam and had to try it. Amazing value and just all around great fun~ Well done with this <3

Boxel 3D is the epitome of creative freedom! The level editor is surprisingly intuitive, unlike that of other games (geometry dash, I'm looking at you.) The physics engine feels pretty darn realistic. The mechanics are all simple to grasp and the block types are easily recognizable. Oh, and it's fun to speedrun too! GET THIS GAME GUYS!!!

Amazing game, amazing community, amazing developer and surprisingly complex

*Note: This is a Single Player, Mouse and Keyboard review* At first, I saw this game was free and thought it was going to be a Geometry Dash style clone. However, I was quickly proven wrong and here is why: Pros: ✔ Has an inbuilt level editor where anyone can make a level and upload it to the Steam Community Workshop for anyone to play. Potentially giving the game unlimited replayability ✔ Has community workshop where you can download user levels, skins and mods ✔ Has various Skins you can customise your cube with and or you can upload your own image as a skin ✔ Has decent number of levels you can play by default. Approx 75 at the time of this review and then you can access the community workshop to download even more on top of this ✔ Hours of fun – I’ve played 1.5 hours and haven’t even finished the first 75 levels. ✔ Uses Speedrun.com to allow you to upload your times for any level and compete against anyone else who has uploaded a time for the world #1 per level spot. A nifty feature but see my con on this. ✔ Graphics fit the game well and there is a slider to adjust graphics up or down ✔ Audio is chill and fits the style of the game. There are four different chill tracks to choose from which all add a different vibe to the game ✔ Huge replayability to become the #1 speed for each default level and then each workshop level and then you can design your own levels to compete against. It just never ends! ✔ Mouse and keyboard just works. There are minimal controls required and even though you can't customise these, you shouldn't need to as they just work out of the box and should suit 99% of the player base ✔ Has a multiplayer feature where you can host and invite people by a link. I haven’t tested what this is for or how it works. I presume it would be to race people to finish a map which would be a cool concept. Cons: ✘ Steam is still learning about the game/developer and therefore it doesn’t have Steam features like Trading Cards or Achievements ✘ Some of the default levels seem more like luck than skill based ✘ Multiplayer seems like a cool addition but not 100% sold that it is required for a game of this nature ✘ Leaderboards are not ingame native or Steam Native. They take you to an external website, which is cool and all… but they should be Steam Native and ingame, not third party. This is really a feature killer for me as I can’t easily see my Steam Friends times, Steam Users times and or my own Steam times compared to other Steam friends/users. Plus a third party website isn’t as trustworthy these days when you can keep it all in Steam. ✘ Default levels randomly change from jumping over obstacles to a Spiderman like web slingshot. Even though this is a nifty idea, this could’ve been implemented better and more gradually. Overall, even though this game lacks built in highscores, Steam is still learning about the game/dev and a few aspects seem more luck based than skilled… this is a free game, with numerous replayability reasons and a level editor that potentially could give a player unlimited Steam Workshop content to always come back and play. Therefore, as the game is free, has numerous hours of content and is fun to try to beat your own level times if not someone else’s, you should at least give this a play!
