Música 11/10, gráficos 10/10, los diseños son hermosos, gameplay 10/10, buen combate, buena historia, buen contenido secundario slice of life y minijuegos.
I love the story! 10/10
7/10 Story was good. Character personalities were good. Variety of bosses designs were scary/cool. I liked the increase in power by doing combos in battle.
BLUE REFLECTION, developed by Gust and published by KOEI TECMO GAMES CO., LTD., is a JRPG that takes a distinctly introspective approach to the genre, blending magical girl elements with a grounded exploration of personal struggles and emotional growth. The story centers on Hinako Shirai, a once-promising ballet dancer whose career is cut short by a devastating injury. Now attending high school with a lingering sense of loss and uncertainty, her life shifts when she gains the ability to transform into a Reflector, entering a parallel dimension shaped by human emotions. From this point onward, the narrative unfolds as a series of encounters that challenge both her understanding of others and her own sense of identity. Rather than focusing on grand, world-ending stakes, the game builds its narrative around individual character stories. Each chapter introduces a classmate dealing with internal conflicts—jealousy, isolation, insecurity—and Hinako’s role is to help them confront these emotions within the Other World. This structure gives the game a more personal and episodic feel, emphasizing empathy and understanding over traditional heroism. The writing often leans into quiet, reflective moments, allowing characters to express vulnerability in ways that feel sincere, even if some arcs are more developed than others. Hinako herself is a reserved protagonist, and while her subdued personality fits the tone, it can also make her feel less dynamic compared to stronger leads in the genre. Gameplay follows a cyclical rhythm between daily school life and exploration of the Other World. During school segments, players interact with classmates, build friendships, and complete requests that deepen character relationships. These interactions are not just narrative filler—they directly influence combat by unlocking abilities and passive bonuses, tying emotional connections to mechanical progression. When transitioning to the Other World, players navigate abstract environments, collect fragments tied to emotional disturbances, and engage in battles. While this loop is initially engaging, it can become repetitive over time due to limited variation in objectives and environment design. Combat is presented through a turn-based system with a timeline mechanic that introduces a sense of flow and timing. Players accumulate Ether, which can be used to enhance abilities, defend against attacks, or unleash stronger skills. This adds a layer of strategy, encouraging thoughtful resource management rather than simple command selection. However, the system remains relatively accessible and does not evolve significantly as the game progresses, which can lead to encounters feeling predictable. While visually appealing and easy to grasp, it lacks the depth needed to sustain long-term excitement, especially for players accustomed to more complex JRPG combat systems. One of the game’s most consistent strengths is its presentation. The art style is soft and luminous, with pastel tones and gentle lighting that create a dreamlike atmosphere. Character designs are expressive and elegant, effectively conveying the emotional states of the cast. The Other World, though conceptually tied to each character’s psyche, often feels visually similar across different segments, which slightly diminishes its impact. The soundtrack, on the other hand, stands out as a highlight, blending calm, reflective melodies with more energetic battle themes that enhance the overall mood without overpowering the experience. Despite its thematic ambition, BLUE REFLECTION struggles with pacing and overall depth. The narrative can feel uneven, with some character arcs receiving meaningful attention while others are resolved too quickly. The gameplay loop, while cohesive, does not introduce enough variety to maintain engagement throughout its runtime. These issues make the experience feel somewhat stretched, as though the game has strong ideas but lacks the refinement to fully realize them. Even with its flaws, the game offers a unique perspective within the JRPG genre. Its focus on emotional healing, personal connection, and the quiet struggles of everyday life gives it a distinctive identity that sets it apart from more action-driven titles. It may not appeal to players seeking fast-paced gameplay or intricate systems, but those drawn to character-driven stories and atmospheric experiences will find something worthwhile in its gentle, reflective approach. In the end, BLUE REFLECTION feels like a heartfelt but imperfect attempt to merge emotional storytelling with RPG mechanics. It succeeds in creating moments of genuine connection and introspection, even if it falls short in execution and variety. As a foundation for the series, it establishes themes and ideas that would later be expanded upon more effectively, making it a meaningful, if somewhat uneven, experience. Rating: 7/10
such a beautiful game. blue reflection is incredibly underrated and will always be near and dear to my heart <3
Blue Reflection: Pros: Strong emotional focus and character-driven storytelling Unique magical-girl atmosphere within a JRPG framework Excellent soundtrack by Gust that enhances the mood Visually striking dreamlike environments Refreshing emphasis on introspection rather than combat alone Cons: Combat system is simple and lacks depth Very slow pacing, especially early on Limited enemy variety and repetitive dungeon design Fanservice elements may be off-putting to some players
