Save your friends, fight off the vampire apocalypse, and survive the horrors of freshman field hockey practice in #BLUD, a delightfully zany animated dungeon crawler that blurs the line between action RPGs and hyperkinetic 90s cartoons.

#BULD was a very flawed, but still very fun, interesting, and memorable game. It is a dungeon-crawler, beat-em-up, puzzle action adventure game akin to old school Zelda games with an early 2000's cartoon aesthetic. The story follows Becky Brewster as she starts high school in a new town and gets embroiled in a Vampire Apocalypse/Social media Tech company conspiracy. The biggest positives are this game's animation, art direction, and aethestics. The animation is completely flawless, both in gameplay and cutscenes. Everyone has fun/unique character designs and the design of the town and it's various locales are pleasantly detailed. The gameplay, while in need of some polish, is solid and punchy enough to engage, and theres plenty of variety to be had in unique minigames and set-pieces. However, I agree with many people's criticisms that the combat lacks a bit of polish, and the chapter structure is a bit off-putting. There were occasional bugs and frustrating moments that didn't make me outright quit the game, but felt like severe oversight nonetheless. Sometimes the game has trouble explaining certain mechanics, whether it involve new enemies or bosses you fight, possible missable sidequests, or even what certain combat upgrades are supposed to do. The game has lots of little individual gameplay problems, both the result of poor structuring or bugs, that aren't huge deals on their own, but can build up and negativley impact some people's gameplay experience. That being said, the game's overall charm and sense of humor is what pushed me to keep playing this game. It has a fun story with twists and turns (though the pacing can throw you for a loop even then) that kept me excited for what came next. The jokes range from decent dad-puns to topical commentary relevant to today's world, emphasizing anti-capitalism, global warming, and the state of modern social media. I am enamored with the game's visual's and charm, and although I am not positive a Zelda-like dungeon crawler fit super well for it, it was a fun game that makes me hopeful for the studio's potential next project! If they can iron out the polish and tweak some of the game design, I think a sequel would go really far!
I´ve fallen in love with this game as I saw a video, highlighting it´s animation. And yes, the game is a joy to look at. You can tell that a lot of love and effort went into the design of the characters and the city as a whole. But sadly, the gameplay is just not there to match it. As many already said, the combat just feels wrong. From wonky hitboxes and hurtboxes to just a lot of slugishness. The point where I called it quits was after the goat bossfight. It was overall not a hard bossfight, it was clear what I was supposed to do, but it took several trys and a few health items to get me through it. Rolling often got my stuck in one of the goat´s tentacles which kept hurting me. After that, I thought it will most likely not get better from here on. I still don´t regret buying the game since I wish nothing but the best for the devs. And hope future projects will not just focus on top notch animations, but also on more polished gameplay. But as things stand now, I can´t really reccomend this game.
Meh, Don't let this game fool you. It can be gorgeous to look, but painful to play, I REALLY LOVE the animation made by Exit 73 Studio in here, they show a lot of effort and care on the animation. But gameplay, holy moly it stinks, the fighting in this game is boring 'cuz you do most of the time 3-combo-roll-attack (pencils are meh of a projectile and if you dare to call bombs a offensive tool, you have my respects) and the collectibles are a PAIN, because the game have the brightest idea of putting collectibles in parts of the game that you can't access again in late game. "Oh so you forgot a collectible in school that was right at the next of the exit? TOO BAD!!! YOU CAN'T ACCESS THE SCHOOL 'CUZ "We are going to catch that vampire now or never!!" NOW RESET THE FILES AND PLAY THE GAME FOR 6 HOURS UNTIL YOU REACHED THAT PART AND BLESS YOU DIDN'T FORGET ANY COLLECTIBLE" And the bosses? they are really a nothing-burger, I can't remember any boss of this game besides the final one (Also SPOILERS) that literally was the same guy that you were fighting 1 hour ago "but This time his combos are longer and a portal is sucking you in!!!", and another one that it was supposed to teach you how to use the grappling hook as a offensive tool, (NEVER USE THE GRAPPLING HOOK AS A OFFENSIVE TOOL IT SUCKS REALLY BAD) But the hitboxes are so tiny in that phase that i was missing every single shoot and i thought i needed to use the pencil since they did damage to it somehow, but guess what? I ran out of pencils and I died, so any try when I ran out of pencils, I blessed to the rng and gambling gods that a bomb monster appeared so I could use him as a bomb and deal damage, BUT GUESS WHAT???? The bomb monster doesn't have an ANIMATION of me stealing his bomb head, so i was ALSO blessing to god, rng and gambling so it appeared and let me steal his head and finally deal damage. Overall, It's a game of all style, but no substance (FOEKOE REFERENCE LET'S GOOOOO)
Visually incredible, wish it could have been an animated show. Besides that nearly unplayabe.
Good fun, Tedious middle section of the game with some jank mixed in. Great art style which does carry bits of the game but enough content to justify playing
The animation and art style are really really awesome.
#BLUD is a charming dungeon crawler with witty humor and a charmingly nostalgic art style that former Cartoon Network kids are sure to enjoy.
I wish you could give neutral reviews on steam, because this game definitely deserves. The animation is gorgeous, but everything else is positively bland. The gameplay is dull and unengaging, the characters and story leave little impression, and it's obvious that there was a ton of passion behind this project but it just didn't result in a good game.
It's a fun game for sure. Easy to run, simple and responsive controls on both controller and KB/M, and enjoyed the soundtrack along with the unique characters. The visuals are smooth and appealing, having a 90's-mid 2000's style, and there are certain references you can recognize from other games or memes. Lastly, PLENTY of dad jokes if you like that. However, there are times I'll run into some pretty rare glitches, where my finishers won't show until I reload the game, or the enemy will lose hit detection, meaning I can't hit them and they can't hit me so they'll stick to me like glue, until... I reload the game. Like I typed here, it rarely happens, so I can forgive it. However, there's one huge flaw with this game: ZERO replay value. Should you want to get all of the achievements, you have to do it in one go, in one save. Chapter select does not exist. You can go through the game, and then be careful each chapter on your next playthrough, as one mistake can make you lose out on 100% completion, and have to start from the beginning. Lastly, PLENTY of dad jokes if you dislike that If you don't mind these flaws, then this game is for you. You can get it full price or on sale.
I really enjoyed this game, it was a lot of fun! Some sections were frustrating and challenging for me. But, overall I liked this game a lot and I highly recommend playing it.
