Block Sky Rise is a construction kit game. The "developer" used the mediocre Godot video game construction kit, filling out input forms/using premade level design tools. While they did provide some of their own assets, these aren't exactly AAA quality game assets... when developers aren't able to use industry level game engines, often they're unable to do the other parts of game development well, either. This is another bit of Russian shovelware/cash grab stuff from an alt account of Cute Hannah's Games/Blender Games/Quantum Quiver etc, who keep pushing these construction kit flips and AI slop onto Steam to try scam a few roubles out of the PC gaming public with all this shovelware, and it's literally hundreds of these garbage minimum viable products from Russia. We must continue to question why this deluge of fake and pointless "asset flip" like shovelware games is good for the gaming industry, and it isn't. It's just polluting the place and making it harder for genuine indie devs to find their audience. This kind of thing continues to give indie devs a bad name. This is a little different than the usual Quantum Quiver shovelware, it's a pointless "catch the blocks" physics puzzle... but it's still complete garbage and can't be taken seriously as a PC game. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. Resolution is capped at 1080p, an old and obsolete resolution in the era of 4K gaming. The game features somewhat lazy, simplistic "retro" looking 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the Godot 2D game engine/toolset (the 3D part is actually workable, but it's more complicated so a lot of amateur devs don't know how to use it). The Godot 2D component is a very poor quality toolset sometimes used by amateur developers as it's free (so they don't have to pay for GameMaker Studio), but unfortunately has very limited capabilities (it's arguably worse than GameMaker Studio). Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes Block Sky Rise might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the game all-time peak player count was only ONE player. That's right, only one person ever played this at a time. When I played this for the purposes of reviewing it, I equalled the peak player count for the game. OUCH. The only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 110,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 110,000+ games on Steam? Block Sky Rise is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. Because this is the kind of game you can just play for free on mobile phones, it's impossible to recommend anyone should pay money for the same experience on Steam. This is also competing with over 14,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
This game does NOT worth 2 euro, its shouldnt even be on steam. You can just go to google and play something like this at some random site called "pissbird games 1000+ free games" Just dont buy, trust me, its not worth it even if its for your kid or younger sibling
