Black Squad is a free military FPS that feels like it is trying to keep things simple and fast. I can jump into a match, pick a weapon and get straight into the shooting without having to learn a huge amount of stuff first. The game has been around since 2019, but it still gets updates and new content, so it does not feel completely stuck in the past. I like that it gives me a fairly traditional FPS experience instead of trying to turn every match into some massive progression system. The amount of actual content is probably the strongest thing for me. There are 10 game modes including Competitive, Demolition and Team Deathmatch, along with 48 maps and more than 85 weapons covering rifles, SMGs, shotguns, snipers, pistols and LMGs. I can also create custom games when I want to mess around with different settings. That gives me quite a lot to play with, especially considering the game itself is free. I like having a big selection of weapons because it lets me change how I play instead of getting stuck using the same type of gun every match. The shooting itself is where I think Black Squad works best. I can focus on aiming, movement and learning the maps without having to worry about a complicated ability system. Competitive and Demolition give me more structured matches when I want something serious, while Team Deathmatch is easier to jump into when I just want to shoot things for a while. There are also ranked and clan based options, so I have somewhere to take the game if I decide I want to play it more seriously. The recent updates also show that the game is still being maintained, with new weapons, temporary modes and events being added. The free to play setup is something I am more mixed about. The game says that everything can be earned through playing, which I like, but there are still in game purchases and chance based purchases. There are also hundreds of weapon and character skins, so a lot of the progression is tied into collecting and customising rather than simply improving at the FPS itself. I do not feel like I need to spend money just to enjoy the basic shooting, but I am less interested in the game when the reward system starts becoming more about random boxes and temporary items. I also think the game has some limits that stop me putting it into the higher end of my ratings. It is a fairly straightforward multiplayer FPS, and while that simplicity can be a strength, it also means I am not getting a huge amount of personality outside the matches themselves. Some of the presentation feels dated and the game does not have the same level of polish or impact that I get from the bigger FPS games. I also need to remember that this is entirely focused on online multiplayer, so there is no real single player campaign for me to fall back on when I want something different. What keeps me coming back is that Black Squad is easy to understand but still gives me enough room to improve. I can work on my aim, learn the maps, try different weapons and gradually get better at the modes I enjoy. The regular missions and rewards also give me small reasons to keep playing, while the custom game system gives me a bit more freedom when I do not want to stick to the normal matchmaking experience. It is not trying to reinvent the FPS, but I think it knows that a simple shooting game can still be enjoyable when the basics are handled well. Overall, Black Squad is a solid free FPS that I think gets a lot right without ever becoming something exceptional. I like the large weapon selection, decent amount of maps and modes, straightforward gunplay and the fact that I can play without having to buy the game first. The dated presentation, fairly basic overall design and free to play systems keep it from reaching the same level as the best shooters I have played, but there is enough here for me to get plenty of enjoyment out of it. For me, it sits comfortably above average because the core shooting works and there is a surprising amount of content behind the free price tag. Rating: 8/10
Müll Spiel. Bei 13gb kann man nichts gutes erwarten.
