This is a great game it's simple and free and my only issue with it so far is I cannot jump high enough to progress in some places and I have to restart the game to proceed but that might just be my fault.
This game is fantastic. It is very Metroid Prime like. The battery system is unique and very well done. Also the music is fantastic as I was waiting for the world to generate it was great to listen to. Gameplay is also very well done. This is also a good game for replayability as the world is unique every time you start a new game. Good job to the developer on this! 100% recommend this. Ok listen up guys. This game is good. I mean, really good. It has some flaws, but overall is a very solid game. I can see the heart and soul that the developer (developers?) put in this game, a loveletter to metroid with cool ideas allaround (the battery system is very interesting). Dear dev, you made a new fan today, a fan that will play your game for many more hours and that will GLADLY help to improve this gorgeus little gem. Awesome work, I am genuinely impressed. Keep it up!

Birth of a Hunter is a 2D retro pixel "Metroidvania" style platformer/shooter that's been slapped together with the godawful GameMaker Studio video game construction kit from Yoyogames. There's a sci-fi kind of theme as you bump around a somewhat large number of very low resolution 2D retro pixel environments. The game features obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution and controls are locked, so there's no way to improve the very poor visual quality or the control scheme. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. Gameplay is equally unpolished and clunky despite the effort that went into adding so many screens to the game. Jumping is particularly floaty and imprecise, making this less than enjoyable to try playing seriously. GameMaker Studio is a very poor quality game construction kit, and unsurprisingly results in products that have little to no value as games, especially when compared to the work of professional developers who create genuine products for gamers. Using a video game construction kit requires little to no talent or skill as a game developer. Very often, GameMaker Studio is used to make shovelware and lazy cash grabs, although in this case the game is completely free. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration. This is certainly a gesture that shows dedication to the gaming industry. It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum standards a dedicated PC game should offer to enthusiasts. There's no "maybe" option in Steam, unfortunately, but I hope to see more work from this developer, perhaps as part of a professional game development company that can make full use of their talents without needing to make budget/quality compromises like pixel art and using off the shelf game templates and construction kits.
+ Fluid gameplay + Free - Boring scenery - Headache inducing soundtrack - No invincibility frames - Constantly getting stuck in a wall or floor - Many deathtraps thanks to the randomness. So when you start this game it has some premise, so much to explore so many thing to find, and its different every time I play. But after the 5th room you will soon think "this seems familiar". When you have to go up a room you have to constantly jump one block up to get to the next room. Backtracking is tedious and not fun if there are spikes and monsters constantly respawning in the weirdest places. And I've had in the short time I played encountered 4-5 times that I got stuck somehow in a platform or wall, making me reset the game. This game has great basis but needs so much polish that I'd recommend staying away from this game for now. There are so many games that do this too, but better.
