About
Biophobia is an experimental art game that intertwines dissection and gardening mechanics to explore themes of trauma, death and agency. The body becomes a site of decay and creation. You are invited to confront discomfort.
Unique Gameplay: Combines a visceral yet delicate dissection with nurturing gardening mechanics.
Artistic Body Horror: Experience unsettling yet compassionate depictions of the human form. No gore, but hauntingly beautiful.
Sandbox Creation: Choose from a variety of seeds. Shape your own floral expression.
Experimental Aesthetic: A blend of surreal visuals and symbolic design, challenging traditional game conventions.
Short, Impactful Experience: Designed to be completed in ~20 minutes.
Inspired by the character Ophelia from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Clemente Susini’s wax figure the Anatomical Venus, and Fuyuko Matsui’s painting Keeping Up the Pureness, Biophobia reimagines historical depictions of women’s bodies through a modern feminist lens. Without text or dialogue, the game speaks through symbolic interaction, haunting visuals, and atmospheric sound.
Biophobia is a game intended for players who appreciate experimental design, symbolic storytelling, and confronting mature themes in an artistic setting. Some audiences may find the content of this game unsettling. Viewer discretion is advised.

disgusting and I don't mean the dissection and trauma. This is not some artistic game and it's not using some novel experimental design. Symbolic storytelling? What storytelling? What symbols? The game confronts mature themes through art? Nah. More like the dev "Charlotte Madelon" (of course, that explains everything) has a chip on her shoulder... Pro-life. Anti-life. I don't care. But what I do care about is honesty and I only feel dishonest vibes from this short buggy game. Cool name though, should have been used for a Biopunk title.

Un titulo bastante atrevido y rápido Es una experiencia única, eso seguro. No es muy abstracto pero si es bastante xd... en verdad ni puta idea que decir sobre este, pruebalo y ya esta illo
A beautiful, yet grueling experience. Being able to deal with something so delicate like the human body, but also to act in rebellion for it. Women are constantly abused by men around them and are expected to comply with the perpetrators. A magical piece of art to let women who have this experience are not alone, whether or not they remain with us on this earth.
that sure was something... an utterly confusing attempt at "exploring themes of trauma, death and agency". in reality all you do is cut open a naked lady's 'carcass'. pottering about and stopping to pick up seeds along the way, before finally slicing open her uterus, then just leaving the fetus sitting there and the game ends with "game over wanna try again?" i could not understand art
No. Okay, let me elaborate. I see many negative reviews saying stuff like "dumb woke feminism", which is par for the course. I'm just going to give it to you straight though, I'm probably the target audience for this game. I like art games, I like difficult subjects, and I like all the ugly things... However, I don't like this. I get this is probably a very personal game, but I can't say it appeals to me as a "deep artsy" game. Here's the positive aspects to get us off on the right foot: - Lovely color palette and scenery. - Creative concept. People view this subject as something they don't wish to look at, and I love the idea of making people look at it from a way that might be difficult to engage with. - Seasons changing and the portrayal of rot are very beautiful in a certain way. A certain "life goes on, life is resilient" vibe to it. And here's why I'm not a fan: - Seemingly directionless at times. - Weird ending and overall message. - Somewhat tedious in its gameplay. I understand that may be the intention but its a tad grating. - Kind of anti-climactic and one-note. It ends off with a "Game complete! Restart?" which ruins the moment and feels inappropriate. I didn't feel it was a super meaningful in the end. It's overall kind of just "eh" with a pretty aesthetic tied to it. It's fine if it resonated with you, but it's not appealing to me.
Biophobia is a brief experience with a very distinctive identity. Strange, uncomfortable and visually memorable. Somehow beautiful in its own way, almost like a small art piece. Biophobia es una experiencia breve con una identidad muy marcada. Extraña, incómoda y visualmente muy memorable. Hermosa a su manera, casi como una pequeña pieza de arte.
First of all, this game is not for entertainment. What you should really expect isn’t a game, but a symbolic message delivered in the form of a game. simply, if you’re an action fan or you want a game that delivers a quick, straightforward payoff this isn’t for you.
This is one of the most poetically beautiful games I've ever played
There is beauty in the grotesque, this is one of those times.
