Beyond the Wall

Довольно ламповая, хоть и по сравнению с остальными квестами выглядит довольно непримечательно. По скидке вполне неплохо.

The appearance of Beyond the Wall is rather lovely; beautiful art does help to make a game fun. What this feels most like to me is Samorost, which is a pretty high compliment; the cut-out art style is a little redolent of it, and the same entire lack of feedback to what's clickable and what isn't. This does make things a little difficult in places for the same reason Samorost did, in that because you don't know what's clickable and what isn't, when it's not obvious what to do you end up clicking on everything to see what can be triggered into doing [i]something[/i] (examples include [spoiler]the overhead beam in the fox hole and the strings in the garden[/spoiler]). And a couple of the puzzles are a bit baffling even after being solved (why does [spoiler]the worm move in that order, and how do you solve this other than brute-force? Similarly with the radio and the lights[/spoiler].) But it's cute, and some of the parts are delightful to watch (the little knight) or excellent and well-telegraphed puzzles which require some thought (the [spoiler]water pressure puzzle in the fountain[/spoiler]). I'm not sure about the heavy-handed moral lesson (don't rot your brains with television! you should instead be playing with your friends!) and definitely not sure about the pull-chain bit in the middle (you are not some ad-supported mobile game! I have actually paid for you, don't stop the action to do a little advert about how I should leave ratings!). Still, a fiver for an hour's entertainment is well worth it, in my opinion; we had fun.
