I feel super lucky to have found this while it still has under ten reviews. Gameplay is bare bones, but the story is really moving, and interacts with the gameplay in some fun ways. The music is also excellent. I'm not sure it quite reaches indie game hall of fame status, but it's close enough that I'd say by not giving it a shot given the price and short length, that you're risking on missing out on something that might really resonate with you, specifically. And even if it doesn't, it's still a good time. My one minor complaint is that the short length of the game and the dungeon itself sorta ruins the vibe of the "super menacing forever purgatory ghost dungeon", but I guess if you put in hours of filler that would also suck so, maybe there's just not a good solution for that.
First I'll say, well worth the price of admission. I've yet to 100%... But, it has been a memorable experience to an end. Not a lot of action, but, it does have basic zelda-like dungeon concepts and it has atmosphere. The interactions were the driving force, however optional they were, with comments on many areas... Hmm. Games like this capture my imagination when wondering how my actions might influence the story. What will be factored in; how much did they code; the illusion of control vs how much effect actually exists... Not sure without replaying, but since I'm unsure, that's a good sign that it was well put together. I liked the music too, could use the soundtrack. Art was perfectly minimalistic retro, well fitting the dungeon. And the sun, I mean the portrait reactions were excellent and hugely varied. And I kept thinking of Undertale with the voice sfx... Loved it. Bought the game on a whim and do not regret it. Potentially short but lovingly crafted with a great price.
Vottles gave me this game this is genuinely the best game I have played in so long its the closest i've come to crying while playing a game I WILL 100 percent this within the week I love the music the humor and BEE THE GOAT I would kill for her vidboy you are an amazing person keep up the good work I hope to see another game like this in the future
This Game is stellar. In a relatively short runtime it made me feel things that I barely feel playing games 40x its length. It is 100% worth your time. Thank you.
This game got me pretty good, well worth every penny and then some. I went into this expecting a little story only to be blown away with just how long it actually was. Believe in Bee!
Game was extremely good, I would rate it 10/10 my current favorite game, I plan to go back and get the last couple achievements but overall the game was very very veyr veyrv ery fun, shoutout to vottles for attempting to buy me the game (and failing) but he put me onto peak so it's okay, very fun game and I wouldn't mind seeing more games by vidboy
Well worth 2 bucks + your time
For what it is, it's a perfect game. A really beautiful little retro Zeldaesque adventure, with fun characters, and an emotional story. It's short, about 1 hour of gameplay, but the tiny price tag reflects this.
Short and sweet story that grabbed hold of my heart very quickly. (The portrait expressions and character writing played me like a fiddle...) Loved the art and the music, loved the Bee, very impressive for a first release. Hard to say no at $3!
Bee is a national treasure that must be protected at all costs.
