About
Palo Pori is a beautiful and peaceful village of artisans and tastemakers. Beyond the village’s protective wall, darkness has begun to stir. Ravenous monsters have claimed the land and threaten to sink their teeth into this final morsel of hope and happiness.
Play as Panko, a young, talented chef, helping to run the local eatery. When Panko’s teacher goes missing, a mysterious visitor arrives with warnings of the dangers beyond the wall. It's up to Panko to step up and take over the restaurant and tend to the ingredients and patrons. But that’s not all, Panko also finds himself serving the Caretakers, brave adventurers, sent to save the world. In this adventure, preserving peace starts in the kitchen!

In Palo Pori, fresh is best! Gather ingredients and resources, care for animals and grow your own fruit and veg to build up your very own cozy town to table restaurant. Forage for wild herbs and unlock new seeds to grow to expand your meals.

Chop, flip, and sizzle your way through mouthwatering mini-games as you whip up delightful dishes for the townsfolk. Good food is always better with company, so work hard to improve your cooking and experiment with ingredients, to keep your patrons happy.
Tailor your restaurant to the tastes of your community, develop new meals, progress your know how through a skill tree and adjust the decor to increase your restaurant’s appeal.

You’ll also need to feed the hungry Caretakers; these brave denizens of the land will venture out into the wilds to fight the ravenous monsters threatening the peace of Palo Pori. Each Caretaker hails from their own flavour region, affecting their own tastes and preferences: some like it bitter, some like it sweet and some are just looking to fulfil their craving of the day! Craft thoughtful meals and balance the flavour profiles to boost their spirits, sharpen their skills, and unlock new abilities. Because let’s face it… Who can save the world on an empty stomach?

Now it’s time to put your meal to the test! This is where taste meets tactics. The dishes you serve will build your Caretaker’s deck – each ingredient unlocking a card. And once they’ve eaten, they’ll venture into the wilds to fight the monsters. Upon their return, they’ll recount their journey and play out their battles through a charming puppet theatre sequence. They might even bring you back some MONSTEROUS ingredients from their ventures. Fight the monsters in turn-based deck building combat, inspired by traditional trick-taking card games. Outplay the monsters, by matching their flavour magic or neutralising it with a balancing card. Add an enhancing card to power up your moves! Your magic can turn the tables!
Utilize the unique effects of your ingredients to put your enemies to sleep, blow away their cards, and more, but watch out, you’re not the only one with special abilities. If you’re not paying attention, you might get burned.
In this food-based fantasy adventure, it’s time to give peas a chance! - Are you ready to get cooking?
Unlock the magic in food.

I was too good at slamming my clam, now my friend won't slam clams with me anymore. Outside of the jokes: This game is sorta mixed for me. I love the aesthetics, I enjoy the characters, but the gameplay loop is kinda... 'eh'. Both searching for ingredients and the cooking minigames seem to be the 'cozy' portions of the game, but I personally found it repetitive and annoying to do them. There's even minigames during the card card fight sections and they feel equally tedious. Overall, I'd say it was an interesting experience. Despite being somewhat bogged down by unskippable tedium, I would recommend this game, what follows after this is my genuine feedback on what took me out of the experience, and I'm only posting it with the thin hope that the developers will see it. My enjoyment of the game mostly came down to designing dishes/decks and running through that section of the game. Granted, at a certain point, it's just a snowball towards success, but I sorta liked getting powerful and broken. By the time things are going smoothly for you, the game is over, and that's kind of a bummer. Point 1: Expenses The 50 currency it takes each day to scan the water for what fish are there is sorta pricy at the point you get it in the game. In addition, the ingredients you can purchase from the merchants are egregiously overpriced. By the end of the game you're getting maybe 600-750 currency a day, and single item purchases can cost 80-150 each. One particular meal takes two of the 150 currency ingredients plus additional ones to make. It's crazy, there's basically no reason to go to the merchants besides seeds, and outside of that, most of the time you're putting that money towards upgrades. Point 2: Day/Night Ingredients It might just be me being impulsive, I may not even need all these items, but at a certain point it becomes a bit painful to run around town searching for things. The grubs are the biggest pain point, given the night grubs are all relegated to a single area, while the daylight ones are spread far and wide through the town. The dough was a bit rough with this too, but I didn't see much use out of that, so it wasn't as bothersome. Point 3: Minigames After the first few times doing these, they don't feel particularly fun to do anymore. I know there's an "upgrade" to alleviate some of the burden but it comes far too late and only lets you skip one part of the cooking process. I honestly wish I could just skip that step in the process entirely. There's more I could say, but those were my biggest issues. The cozy side of the game kinda took me away from the fun side of the game, and a lot of mechanics felt like (pun fully intended) they needed more time in the oven.
I found this game very enjoyable. Took around 10-12 hours, lots of save points, as well as points during a "day" that you could pause and pick right back up where you left off with a clear idea of what to do next. I would recommend this game to anyone who has a busy schedule, or who can only put an hour or two during an evening and save a big sink hours into session for the weekend.
EXTREMELY GOOD GAME!! I bought this in a bundle with another game I was interested in, and I am so so glad that I played through Beastro's storyline. A heartwarming tale of found family and joy in grief. The cooking mechanics were fun, if not a bit challenging, and the way combat was done to collect ingredients was such an original concept. The art is the cherry on top of a sundae of a game.

Such a whimsical take on an adventure rpg! The characters are so fun to meet and the game loop works (mostly) well. Choosing the recipes and cooking for caretakers, then getting to play through their adventures is so fun! I love finding new ingredients when exploring and unlocking better recipes/cooking tools. Honestly I think the game could do without the resource collection in town (maybe just tired of every game having farming and fishing now). Haven't finished yet but I am so excited to see how it all wraps up! I actually really love the story <3
Just beat the game! Existing popular reviews are all pretty accurate. The art is super cute and the gameplay is intriguing. I didn't get the vibe that the project was cut short (as many reviews mention) up until the final hour or two where you stop having access to the denizens as playable characters. The ending warns you that you can't go back if you continue which I chose to ignore since I was on a good run and wanted to one-take it as I did with most of the regions in the game (I never re-explored them to finish side quests which I regret now) but after beating the game you can't even load into your completed world (If you try, you just get placed where you were before the final mission). Sort of reminds me of the ending to Bugsnax which had a similar problem although was slightly more clear with the abruptness. I would 100% pay for an expansion or more content for the game although I'd also just appreciate slow updates expanding on the lackluster denizens. Would still definitely recommend the game overall, just be prepared for the ending unlike I was.
cute
A great little game. 10h of gameplay to finish the main story (probably could add 5h if I wanted to 100% it), didn't overstay its welcome, I'd say a nice experience for a fair price! As stated by some other players I would appreciate if we could keep playing after completing the game (instead of being sent back to a save before the final boss), but honestly that's a minor complaint. The card fighting part, although fairly simple, is more fun that I would have expected! I'd just wish they included more utility to low value ingredients, such as effects if you lose a clash (right now it's just stack the highest numbers because almost all special effects only trigger on wins), The cooking / silce of life part remains fairly simple and can become tedious after a while, but the game is short enough that it doesn't feel too heavy. Overall I had fun! A simple, lovely little story that I'd recommend for people who enjoy relaxing games. Try it out for yourself :D
La verdad, buenisimo el juego, aunque el juego sea medio lento la historia te engancha muy bien. tambien el diseño del juego es muy bueno (panko es re tierno jsjsjs)
