This game is a good example of doing more with less. It is easily understood with a low skill floor and high skill ceiling. The map and battlescape while simple have significant depth to them in order for players be effective... I don't have much else to say unfortunately. It's a fine game, not my cup of tea, and while its strength is certainly simplicity I think this has limitations. The map is so simple to the point that Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005 game btw) has more features while being functionally almost identical. Maybe this is intentional, I find it rather shallow. The story... exists... I don't find it intriguing in the slightest, it is there for slightly educating new players or just a checkbox that needs filled. Nothing more or less. If I wanted to play a turn based game with this level of depth, difficulty and challenge while having real time decisions with consequences... OpenXcom is my preferred game. It goes some way when saying I find a game with 8 bit graphics, the most unforgiving game ever with the ugliest ui that has graced any game, that came out in 1994 has more depth and fun to be had. It gets a thumbs up regardless, it's not a bad game by any means. It just doesn't excite me.

If there was an inbetween vote then this game would get it. There are the seeds of a great game but as you move along in it you soon find out that it's tactically neutered. It feels like it's kind of a chess game at first and you try and secure every planet but this in no way has any affect on the Cylon's ability. The next problem is finaly getting the Jupiter class. It is basially useless because it literally reduces your capacity the more you have in your fleet and thus your firepower is cut in half from the Artemis class. In the end the frustration gets to you. It's a fail, but a shame at the same time.
