will edit as I go along. Light on story, but I suspect I'm stillstuck in tutorial stuffs. Horrible uncanny valley issue with many commoner faces in dialogue. Looks interesting, the crafting hopefully delivers on its promises.
For A game that cost less than a pound this is a little gem. As this was kickstarter funded you will notice that the character portraits are of people who supported the game, nice touch. The important thing is gameplay, and this game has a lot of depth. A main quest supported by lots of side quests, crafting, farming, mining, cooking there is a lot going on. The battles are the same as 3 Stars of Destiny typical RPG maker format, different tactics for different enemies are needed so a bit of thought has to be taken. I have played about 2 hours and so far there is a always something to keep me coming back. So for a cheap game give it a whirl.
if you can get past the dated RPGMaker controls, this ambitious game holds some fun if you are in crafting and exploration. The world is OK, but felt a little to samey as it uses a lot of stock assets. I'd play it more if it was upgraded to later versions with better menu design and controller compatibility.
Truly an interesting concept
3 good 2 average 1 bad loot 1 and 1/2 crafting 1 and 1/2 combat 1/2 replayability 1 and 1/2 game mechanics 1 customization/choice 1 and 1/2 story 1 and 1/2 visuals 1 and 1/2 fun, only in short doses hours of play. 50 to 70. But you will get bored way before this. bugs? not many, but one rather bad one. This is a reluctant thumbs up, because this game has a lot of problems. It also has a lot of content. You will get your money's worth if you play the game in small doses over a long stretch of time. Play too much of it at one time and you will start to really hate this game. Let's start on the positives. There is a lot here: crafting, farming, fishing, business ownership, questing, exploring, dungeon running, combat, loot, multiple guilds, and even marriage. Eventually you get to an open world where there are multiple cities where you can buy more businesses and find more quests. There is a lot to do. But will you want to do it all? Some other reviews have said the story is good. I disagree. Waking up with amnesia is rarely a good beginning of a story. Some of the dialogue is funny. Some of it is silly. Too much of it is dumb. There are lots of quests. But retrieving a sword for an npc still seems like a fetch quest to me. Getting that sword took more effort and was less fun than hoped. Though visuals are never a big issue for me, this is an RPGmaker game, and I despise that style. The developer has tried to overcome this by mixing more realistic photographic images for some of the character pictures, and for many of the attacking enemies. For me, he succeeds. For some others, the mixing of styles can be a bit jarring. Either way, the worst visual problem is the cloud pattern bug found on the world game map. A pattern of clouds overlays most of the map, making it hard to see the features of the map. If there is a solution to this bug, the discussion pages don't have it. This bug made me quit playing the game. Nearly as bad as the visuals is how the characters are handled. You are given zero choices. No choice in appearance, no stats, no choice in how you level up. Not even a choice of your sex. This kind of makes the RPG part of RPGmaker games nonsensical. This doesn't mean there are no choices. Many quests have dialogue choices. Also you choose which guild to join. Still, I didn't feel like this was my character. Especially heinous was having the game choose which stats to level, and which new power I would get. Not acceptable. The combat is horrible. Since I have always hated this Final Fantasy combat style (text choices, turn based, sprites fight on stylized screen), I didn't expect much here. I liked the photo-like enemies. Many didn't. Supposedly the animation can be turned off to make combat faster. I tried to turn it off but failed. Unfortunately combat is plentiful. At least most of the enemies are quite easy to kill once you get your group together. There are other negatives. Loot is plentiful, but often nothing more than a potion. Often even dungeon loot is nothing more than another potion. Which makes dungeons almost worthless since they tend to look the same. Fishing is totally random and involves no skill. All the crafting is simplistic and tedious. I am sure you will find a few more negatives if you decide to play the game. conclusion For the price of a Big Mac meal, you will get a lot of content. Unfortunately the Big Mac is more enjoyable.
nope
The game itself is not too bad, it was interesting. However on two different computers I the video does not work well, likely because the resolution is so off. The drivers need to be updated to better fit modern screens and refresh rates.

Tags: Tycoon&Simulator&Sim&City Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from library TLDR: RPGMaker Stardew valley. On-rails, heavily scripted, stiff, and very non sandboxy. Features your typical grindy woodcutting, mining but instead of having respawnable hotspots you have to follow the scripted maps to find additional ressources. Progression is slow, and I think I bungled the script that allows access to sewers by not engaging correctly in dialogue. Most of the NPCS are affable, personable peasantry-grade people and the experience is casual and feels more like strolling around to see the activities than an actual combat heavy RPG. The game also refused to fullscreen and the resolution options would not actually do anything. Playing in a tiny window was surprisingly unpleasant. To top it all off I found the default control binds a little bit on the clunky side. Not knowing where certain key NPCS are for specific skills you want to train can be significant stepback I would assume. Too many issues with this title. Removed for declutter
Kickstarted this game for one of my kids, his and his brothers name are in it as well as mine and his mothers. Its lots of fun to see your ideas in games.
