About
"BAROQUE Become a Meta-Being" returns—now more powerful than ever!
In this game, you play as Grue, one of the minor enemies that appear in BAROQUE.
Use jumps and quick movements in all directions to see how far you can progress through the dungeon known as the Neuro Tower.
Will you take cautious steps forward, or leap boldly ahead? With simple controls, anyone can enjoy the challenge.
You’ll also encounter many familiar characters from the original game, such as Moon and Kato.
By using the rewards you earn based on the distance you travel, you can obtain various types of Grue, such as the "Muscle Grue" and the "Jellyfish Grue." You can also change your appearance to the Grue you’ve obtained and play as them.
In addition to the Original Mode, where you test how far you can go without making a mistake, a brand-new Countdown Mode has been added.
In this mode, the challenge is to see how far you can go within 60 seconds. You can revive as many times as you want during the time limit, and the rewards you earn differ from those in Original Mode.
You can compete with players nationwide in the rankings by comparing your number of deaths and the max distance reached in each mode.
A new camera option, Another View, has also been added—switch from the top-down Normal View to a dynamic, close-up perspective from behind Grue for a more immersive experience.
Other improvements include interface adjustments and the ability to restart instantly with a single button press, making the game smoother and more enjoyable to play.

<BAROQUE ~ Become a Meta-Being ~ Revive> is a Frogger clone in Sting's Baroque universe. Which makes sense, because here you play as a Grue/Glue. This was the weakest meta-being in Baroque, which moved around by jumping, and which could be defeated just by stepping on it. So, picking this little guy as the main character for a Frogger game was the natural thing to do, right!? :)
Gameplay
This is a Frogger endless runner, where you compete with other players on the leaderboards for the farthest distance travelled. The Original mode has "permadeath", i.e. your run lasts until you get hit once. Alternatively, this remake features a Countdown mode, where you try to travel as far as you can within 60 seconds. When competing for highscores, you have to deal with 6 meta-being types while travelling through an endless neuro tower floor: Kato is extremely fast, you have to watch out for Seventeen's chaotic movement patterns, Jerryrom walks towards you and just explodes, Galgal-Tank-Joe keeps you on your toes by shooting missiles at you, and so on. Apart from these enemy types, the game mechanic that makes this game interesting is the super jump: If you are being faced with a difficult, or normally unfair situation, you can charge a super jump by holding down and releasing a movement direction. Depending on how long you charge this move, you can travel 2 or 4 spaces with a big jump. However, due to the charging time, you cannot simply do a super jump on reaction, and you have to plan ahead. And this is a pretty cool aspect, which requires the player to have good reactions, and make quick tactically meaningful decisions. To further keep the players on their toes, there's a hidden timer in Original mode, and when you try to wait too long without progressing, you're instantly killed by a Cherub (aka Little).
Grues / Gacha Aspect
If you liked the collectathon aspect of the Baroque remake, the game has a lot of weird and fun Grue variants that you can get in a gacha, as a reward for spending time playing the game. Depending on the selected Grue, you play on 1 out of 5 different map types, but otherwise this doesn't impact the gameplay (except for visuals). While not very meaningful gameplay-wise, the 56 Grue variants add a lot of personality to the leaderboards. Whether you like cats more than dogs, have a favourite Baroque character (, or like to play with a self-imposed handicap by picking a nearly invisible character), you can show this on the leaderboards.
Achievements
Most achievements are easy to get, and/or just require you to play the game for some time. There's only one difficult achievement, which requires you to travel a certain distance just by using the chargeable super jump. I didn't have too much trouble getting it, but I had to restart my run several times until I got a map layout where I could do it.
Conclusion
All in all, I think this is a pretty good and fun Arcade game, but there is one complaint that I have: The way how highscores and the leaderboards work, could be improved: - Highscores aren't separated based on map type - Difficulty doesn't seem to increase with travellled distance, so Original mode runs could potentially be endless But yeah, I really enjoyed this little Arcade game, and I'm glad this turned out to be actually fun ... and not just something to support Sting, and tell them that I'd like to see the original Baroque here on Steam. :) (...and yes, having Baroque on Steam would be cool ^^)
im just going to be nice because it's baroque even though i wouldn't actually recommend this to anyone. but i did just want to say why are the controls so laggy? there is literally a half second before my grue moves after i hit a button and it was like this in the mobile version too. regardless i like the many ways they reskinned the grues and that's about it. also go to settings > turn off effects. you can see so much more this way especially the katos when they roll in.
I've never really played these "Frogger" type games but I find it quite fun! Now I can't see this game being that great for someone that isn't a fan of Baroque, but if you are give it a try, at the very least you support Sting. (PS: Please put Baroque (1998) and Baroque (2007) on Steam!!)
It's a funky little frogger type kinda game, based on that weird ps2 game I played forever ago. Didn't expect it but glad to know its still around in some form. Seems they brought out a few games hopefully they remaster the other one someday.
This Game is an extremely weird Frogger Clone with Gatcha Elements..... but strangely enough i do NOT hate it, since i don´t have to pay for the Gatcha Element. Just keep playing until you got the Grues you needed.... I would have much prefered the Saturn or PS2 Variant of Baroque, but this Spin off is actually fun for the price point it has now. + contains Melodies i reconize from the Wii/PS2 version of Baroque + Logneck and other familiar Characters are back as waymarkers 8/10 Fun Factor for a relatively cheap Game.
im baroque-ing out hard to this one
게임 자체는 솔직히 재미없고 이 가격인 것도 이상하지만 바로크 원작이 스팀에도 이식되기를 바라는 마음으로 구매 프로그 게임 같은 거 좋아하면 그나마 해볼 만할 듯.
Pretty bizarre that we got a port of BAROQUE frogger before the original Saturn or Wii remake, but a fun spin-off nonetheless.
Why I'm a turtle
yeah, this is very silly and weird. worth the bit I played. I kinda want to play more just to see the other creatures and their names, but probably wont
