Ball Space

kinda bonkers

I am really confused. Ball Space is about a, umm... ball, well--in space. I don't really know the end goal here. I know there is a way to make it from one gravitational entity to another, and that's fun figuring out. The camera is all over place, as are the coins. What are they for? I don't know. But what I do know is that I'm really dizzy. The camera and the gravity have me all disoriented, and upside down. I think I meant to give a thumbs down, but that was inverted by a wonky camera and ambiguous gravity too!

If you like super mario 64 or mario galaxy you will really like this game, you can tell its heavily inspired by 90s and early 2000 3d platformers, good job dev! I had alot of of fun playing this

Decent concept, horrible execution. First there is general polish. The graphics are bad, shading is not great, and it is hard to tell depth and shape of objects. Then there are lack of textures. Everything is a flat color. Then all the models seem very simple and not that great, low in detail. Then there are controls. The X and Y axes of the camera are inverted with no way to turn it off. I stopped shortly after playing because the camera was too hard to use due to being inverted. Also, there is zero automatic camera control, and there is no camera smoothing, which makes everything jittery and also forces me to constantly know where to look and manually move the camera everywhere. Then there are the levels. Often the levels do not seem to have any clear goal; as if there is no tutorial. We are expected to know everything and know all the mechanics and know where to go. Then there is the GUI. It is all basic white text, no fancy fonts, and all the buttons and boxes are very plain. You also have to exit to the main menu to change settings, and there are no smooth transitions, instead hard stutters and cuts everywhere. Like not even a fade to black or loading screen. With all of this low quality content or lack of content, I cannot fathom how the developer managed to make the game THREE GIGABYTES in size. I know it seems small but so is the game. In all of this in mind, I would advise against this game, even though it is free. Don't even spend $0 on it. It seems like the developer did not do any playtesting on this game and only tested it themselves before releasing, which is the #1 absolute worst idea you could ever possibly have when making a game. Like making a pay to win game will be better than a game that didn't have playtesting done.
