Bad Hop Baseball

What a fun casual gaming experience. As someone who used to game a lot and now cannot find the time, this game is perfect. You can load it up and play a few games with friends and family, have some laughs, all in a short amount of time. As a bonus, while playing a few rounds with my 5 and 9 year old daughters, I was able to teach them the rules about baseball where they had zero interest before. This game has brought on excitement for them in anticipation of the upcoming baseball season, and I can tell there will be many more games played in our future. We are excited for the future updates and cannot wait to see what is in store.

Fun spin on baseball! Enjoyed the randomness and it’s fun to play multiple games in a row. Lots of little fun details like the music when hitting the bumpers, stat tracking, and exit velo.

It plays a little song when the tiny gloves are popped and if you're are the kind of person who appreciates things like that in a baseball abstraction then you should seriously consider this game.

I hate to give a negative review, but this game is frustrating more than it is fun. It feels like it has a secret algorithm in place to let the computer always beat you. Your ball will always ricochet into out of a good spot and into an Out slot. The computer's will do the opposite. Sometimes you'll have Out slots for most of your field, while the computer will turn around and get four Home Run opportunities in the same turn. And if you ever get in the lead, the computer will have a miraculously good, superhuman next-inning to tie you or pass you up. And while the point of the game is for there to be randomness in all of your shots, there doesn't seem to be any way to apply any sort of skill or aiming to your shots. The power meter doesn't seem to actually be a good metric of how hard you will launch your ball. You may as well just launch it randomly and pray.

A hyper-casual baseball/plinko game--it's worth it, as long as you know what you are getting. With this game, you can kill a few minutes. Or you can have a pretty good time as you try to win the championship in Streak Mode. The powerups you can buy in game are fun to try and use as you outsmart the "defenders" to earn those runs. But Bad Hope Baseball is far from perfect in its execution (again it is about $2 full-price, so bear that in mind--the dev is very open and honest about their minimal amount of experience on the store page.) So first up is a jarring little bug: Pressing the Escape Key causes the game itself to "desync?" I don't know how else to describe it, If you hit Escape, the game will still be running while you look at the menu, and you can still hit the ball etc. However, when you hit escape again, the game will then look frozen (nothing moving on the screen) even as you can still hit it playing out in the background. Hitting the escape key a few times will eventually get you back in sync--but regardless just use the mouse to click on "Menu" if you need to pause for a minute or change options. More importantly, the AI feels to be completely random in its play style. It doesn't seem to make any advantageous decisions as it applies to its own hitting power. Also, the AI has no access to any of the powerups that the player does so it cannot help itself out of a jam. That makes the end-game of a season far "easier" than the beginning, which feels backward and mitigates any of the already minimal challenge a PC "opponent" might provide. None of that really defeats the fun of playing the game for what it is--but you need to know about it before you purchase. Lastly, this type of game is usually fun to work through and try and get 100% achievement. However, I am concerned that some of the achievements might not be working properly. IF not, it is a little disappointing as this kind of game is given some extra "replay value" with a grind-based achievement list to aim for--and I don't think the dev is working on this project anymore. I've popped some of them, however others don't seem to be tracking on my achievement list (even as it does say that .4% of players have obtained at least all of them). Right now, I'd say it's possible you can't 100% this game, but don't take my word for it. Look, I don't know what to tell you. If you want a cheap, casual, basic plinko/peggle style game with baseball scoring this game is fun. But it's not going to convert anyone to the genre, nor is it going to amazing and astound you with its brilliant gameplay. But for $2, it is a fun little game and the dev deserves praise for achieving his personal goal of creating a video game.

Garbage game with a cheating A.I.

Bad Hop Baseball is a simple pachinko game with a baseball theme. Each game is 3 innings, and you score runs by getting the ball into slots marked Single, 2B, 3B, and HR. Everything else is an out. The physics bring Peggle to mind, but there's no powers and no series of levels here; you just play the standard 3 inning game against the CPU over and over. The game is a bit barebones, and the music tones when the ball connects with an obstacle become grating fast, but it'sa nice little timewaster to play for a few minutes here or there. It would definitely work better as a mobile game rather than a somewhat pricey ($10) PC game. I received a key for the game from a post on r/baseball.
