Bacon Man is a pretty good game. An enjoyable art style, with fantastic illustrations, a colourful palette, and charming character designs. The level design is quality; harrowing threading-the-needle jumps with secrets peppered around, which is split pretty evenly between having to explore hidden pathways and having to risk a harder route. The checkpoints are geographically close to each other, and yet they feel much farther away. When you manage to get a rhythm going, and blast through a section in one fluid movement, it feels super rewarding, especially as the movement in this game feels good - with special mention going to how great Bacon Man's toaster jumping feels. The soundtrack is fantastic; it's varied, engaging, and helps set the stage. While the game's wacky and somewhat sociopathic sense of humour may not be for everyone, it's gotten plenty of grins and my weird chimp laugh out of me. The boss fights are all creative, and visually interesting. However, it is not without flaws: A lot of the animations seem rather robotic. Though I'm sure the devs have sound reasoning behind it, the fact that I'd have to level the characters individually is a pain, and dissuades me from using anybody other than Bacon Man - especially as you have to replay the levels that unlock special abilities, such as the dash, with each character to unlock said ability for them. Furthermore, you can't freely switch character from the map screen, instead having to return to the main menu to go to the load game screen. At times, the hitboxes for the spikes can feel over-sensitive: I've often died from what looks like a single pixel touching a single pixel, but maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me. My main issue, however, is the combat. I'm sorry guys, but I just don't dig it. While there is animated feedback for when people take a hit, it's not particularly satisfying. Enemy AI is erratic and unpredictable, and I seldom felt that their placement added anything to the challenge, instead just being a bloody nuisance. If the mooks were all glass cannons, I feel they'd add more to the game. Despite this, Bacon Man is, overall, a highly enjoyable platformer, full of charm and challenge, and I've had a hard time putting it down. As it stands - a small studio's first original game - it's a bloody good time, and I've high hopes for Skymap's future.
I normally don't play platformers but had to get this one because,well.....Bacon. So far i'm glad I did. I has been a pleasant surprise that it isn't just for show. this game actually is a lot of fun and honestly pretty challenging. It started off pretty easy but it quickly starts combining all the moves you learned into complex chains of skill to get past difficult parts of the lvls. The co op is a nice touch too. I'm really enjoying this game so far.
This game is awesome, Im not usually one for platformers, but I enjoy this one. A++
Bacon Man is great. Bought through kickstarter and have had a blast playing through it. Challenging, entertaining, exciting, everything you want. Highly recommend.
Fica aqui o meu Gameplay, diz-me a tua opinião. =) https://youtu.be/8Pz5h5iKMZ8
Bacon Man: An Adventure has been an enlightening experience. I had never been big on Bacon before but after the titular character Bacon Man cusses out an unimportant ruffian over the lack of Bacon in their diet I came to realise the vast importance of a grease rich, protein powered diet. I have already consumed 183 pounds of raw bacon, 4 dogs and 13 small children in my pursuit towards the Meat Throne and have become an unstoppable wall of pure flesh and grease. I have become both a god and a menace to civilised society as we know it and it's all thank's to Bacon Man: An Adventure
So much fun. It is refreshing to play a tough platformer that makes me think! I die over and over and come back for more! Very well done.
Fun game, i left my wife and kids to start my own bacon adventure. my irl bacon adventure was going just as i had hoped! i got a team of awesome adventures but my adventure was cut short because apparently "it's illegal to beat up people on the street then jump on walls to escape cops, then shoot people that are in my way." like bro, i want to be the meat king! 10/10 game Though. (lard lass is best waifu <3)
Bacon Man, the man, the myth, the succulent pork. Due to our love of all things Bacon, there simply was no way we could not check this game out. In this 2D, side-scrolling platformer you play as Bacon Man (or one of his 3 friends), battling through the food groups to confront those who wrongly condemned you for killing your father. Clear his name by beating the Meat Kings into submission. Mechanics When they say Bacon Man: An Adventure is “tough as nails,” I felt that was a bit of an undersell. Not only will this game frustrate you and make you want to quit at times, it may also draw you back in, just to see if you can get past that point you were stuck at, or maybe clear the level just a little bit faster. Maybe It’s just been a while since I’ve played this kind of platformer as there were times I’d come back to it only to speed through an area I was unable to clear just the night before. That said, you’ll race, jump, and climb your way through level after level. When encountering enemies you can melee them down, shoot them with your limited-but slowly regenerative ammo or avoid them all together if you’re speeding through. As you play you’ll pick up different items and outfits as well as gain points to improve your character’s power levels and health to help with your survivability. Bacon Man also features a split-screen Co-op option so you can play with a buddy who also shares your masochistic streak. The true challenge of this game is navigating the jumping puzzles and various traps. There are several checkpoints scattered through each of the levels and you’ll be both thankful for them and at times curse there aren’t more of them after clearing a rather long or difficult series of jumps only to die to something silly right afterward. Final Thoughts/Rating: Here we break down our ratings into five categories and rate the game on a 1 – 10 scale with 5 serving as “average” and then average those scores to a final overall rating. Design: 7 The character design and humor of the game quite entertaining, though here at Bammsters we MIGHT be biased in favour of baconated humour. The music by Braxton Burks and Kyle Landry was rather well done also. The controls seem to work pretty well though at times jumping across some of the puffer fish was frustrating as landing on one in just slightly different spot could send you catapulting in the wrong direction. Challenge: 10 This game is very challenging, frustratingly so at times. While the enemies themselves aren’t much of a challenge for the most part, navigating the different traps and jumping puzzles will have you respawning over and over, with the likely inclusion of explicatives Fun: 5 Bacon Man can be an enjoyable Adventure, the jumping puzzles can be especially frustrating which detracted from that enjoyment, unless that kind of frustration is your kind of thing in which case this score might be higher for someone like that. Getting your friend over, with some bacons to enjoy, will almost invariably increase the fun. Longevity/Replay: 6 If you enjoy this kind of platformer then there is plenty of replay in it for you for speed running. There are also 4 different characters with their own playstyle so there is an opportunity to play the game at least 4 different times and get a different experience each time, though depending on your experience with the difficulty you may just be happy to have finished the game the first time around. Price: 6 At $19.99, this game seems to be pretty fairly priced.
