Backrooms: Reminiscence

Graphically the game is great which ties into the atmosphere the game puts you in which is great as well. I felt on edge the entire time on my first run so the game does a good amount right. It is however held back by several odd decisions made during development. First of all is the running which was also present in backrooms exploration with the movement being too slow especially walking (which you will occasionally be forced into doing both in the starting and ending areas and the pool rooms) it makes gameplay painfully slow and replays tedious but ultimately it is what is. There also the save mechanic which is borderline useless all of your saves get wiped at a game end and even when not wiped send you back to the start of the level you saved on instead of the actual point you save at (atleast in my experience). The games good but feels almost like its geared to pad out gameplay time in some places however I did enjoy exploring this game especially in my first run through

Another decent Backrooms game from this dev! The visuals are great and the sound design is equally good. As other reviews have noted, there aren't any overt monster chases, very few jump-scare moments, and sometimes the level design can be more linear than open, but I didn't find those to be issues myself. I tend to prefer Backrooms/liminal horror games that don't hit you with excessive monsters and jump-scares, and which instead rely on atmosphere, as this one does (don't get me wrong, there are monsters in this one - but they're used quite sparingly).
