Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.29/day in the week to Aug 2 → 0.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Backrooms Lost Unit approaches the increasingly familiar Backrooms concept as more than a simple tour through unsettling hallways. It combines first-person survival horror, exploration, scavenging, environmental puzzles, hostile entities, and cooperative play into an experience built around the uncertainty of being trapped somewhere that does not obey ordinary rules. Developed and published by JD Archives, it is currently an Early Access project, so its existing content should be viewed as the foundation of a game that is still being expanded and refined. The central appeal comes from exploring a collection of strange levels while searching for resources and some possibility of escape. Ten levels are available in the Early Access version, and the intention is for them to feel meaningfully different rather than like minor variations of the same yellow corridors. Different layouts, environmental characteristics, puzzles, interactions, items, and mechanics help prevent exploration from becoming entirely predictable. Entering another level can therefore feel like crossing into a new problem rather than simply reaching another section of the same maze. Scavenging gives that exploration a practical purpose. Useful objects can be discovered throughout the environments, and experimenting with items or combinations can improve the player's chances of surviving. This system works well with the setting because it encourages investigation even when remaining in an unfamiliar area feels dangerous. Puzzles similarly force players to examine their surroundings rather than continuously running forward. Together, these mechanics establish a satisfying conflict between curiosity and self-preservation: exploring more thoroughly can provide useful information and supplies, but it also means exposing yourself to danger for longer. Entities provide the more immediate source of fear. Their unpredictable nature is important because horror becomes considerably less effective once the player knows exactly where every threat appears. Here, apparently harmless exploration can quickly become a desperate attempt to escape. The possibility of danger gives empty corridors and quiet rooms greater psychological weight. The strongest moments do not necessarily require an enemy to be visible; uncertainty about whether something is nearby can create just as much tension. Atmosphere remains one of the game's most important qualities. Realistic visual presentation, unsettling lighting, repetitive architecture, environmental details, and eerie sound design attempt to transform mundane locations into places that feel fundamentally wrong. The Backrooms premise depends heavily on this contrast. Offices, corridors, rooms, and other ordinary structures become disturbing because of their isolation and unnatural arrangement. When the environmental design and audio are working together effectively, simply moving into an unexplored area can generate anxiety without requiring constant scripted scares. Players can tackle this nightmare alone or enter online cooperative sessions supporting up to four participants. Solo play naturally produces the more isolating experience, allowing environmental sounds and uncertainty to dominate. Multiplayer creates a different type of horror. Communication and teamwork can make survival easier, but groups can become separated, overlook clues, waste resources, or panic when an entity suddenly appears. The reduced loneliness is compensated for by unpredictable situations created by multiple people trying to survive simultaneously. The cooperative structure is particularly suitable for the puzzle and exploration mechanics. A group can divide responsibilities, investigate separate areas, discuss discoveries, and coordinate its response to threats. At the same time, splitting up introduces its own risks. This provides multiplayer with more substance than simply placing several players in the same horror environment. The experience can move naturally between cautious teamwork and chaotic escapes depending on what the group encounters. Variety between levels is another encouraging aspect. A common weakness of Backrooms-inspired games is excessive repetition, where the novelty of liminal architecture fades before the gameplay develops enough depth to compensate. Backrooms Lost Unit attempts to avoid that problem by giving locations their own challenges, mechanics, items, and surprises. The result is a progression structure in which players need to adapt to new circumstances instead of repeating exactly the same routine from beginning to end. Its Early Access status is nevertheless an important consideration. The game remains under active development, with additional levels, entities, mechanics, balancing, performance improvements, cooperative refinements, and revisions to existing content forming part of its development direction. Consequently, players should expect the possibility of bugs, inconsistent polish, balance issues, and systems that may change over time. An integrated bug-reporting feature is a useful inclusion for a project at this stage, particularly when community feedback is intended to contribute to its development. Steam Deck compatibility is currently best regarded as unverified rather than officially guaranteed. There is no established Steam Deck compatibility rating that should be interpreted as confirmation of a fully Verified or Playable handheld experience. It may still be possible to run the game through SteamOS and Proton, but controls, interface readability, performance, multiplayer functionality, or other technical elements could require adjustment. Players purchasing specifically for Steam Deck should therefore approach it as an unsupported or not-yet-formally-rated experience rather than assuming seamless handheld operation. Overall, Backrooms Lost Unit has a stronger gameplay foundation than a Backrooms experience built solely around wandering through liminal environments. Scavenging, puzzles, item experimentation, unpredictable enemies, varied levels, and four-player cooperation provide actual objectives while preserving the setting's unsettling atmosphere. Its greatest limitation is also understandable: it is still an Early Access game and therefore has considerable room for additional content and refinement. If future development strengthens performance, enemy behavior, level variety, progression, and cooperative systems, the existing framework could develop into an especially compelling entry in this crowded horror niche. For fans of first-person survival horror who enjoy exploration as much as direct scares, it offers an intriguing combination of atmospheric tension and practical problem solving. Playing alone emphasizes isolation, while multiplayer transforms the same premise into a more social and unpredictable survival challenge. Even in its developing state, the combination of environmental mystery and structured gameplay gives it an identity beyond merely reproducing familiar Backrooms imagery. Rating: 7/10
I received this game as a gift because one of my friends is obsessed with Backroom games, I love Backrooms and the lore as well, however a lot of the games that come out of the Backrooms genre are very sloppy and feel like cheap cash grabs. This one especially is one. I had played a similar game called "Inside The Backrooms" I like it enough to have six hour of game play. After one hour of playing "Backrooms Lost Unit" resembles "Inside the Backrooms" so much its T for T level design but low effort. It is very disappointing, there is nothing unique that I can say about this game besides that it referenced Kane Pixels movie, but even then, it's nothing original. I refunded it.
