I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
10/10 BEST GAME 100/100 BEST GAME BEST GAME
Aztecalypse is a first-person action-horror adventure developed and published by Displacement Studios that combines archaeological mystery with supernatural survival. Instead of placing players in a conventional haunted mansion or abandoned laboratory, the game explores the eerie atmosphere of ancient Aztec ruins, where history and myth gradually merge into something far more sinister. The adventure begins as what appears to be a scientific investigation, but it quickly transforms into a desperate fight to uncover the truth behind a vanished expedition while escaping the deadly forces hidden beneath centuries of forgotten history. The unique setting immediately gives the game an identity that stands apart from more familiar horror experiences, offering players an opportunity to explore a mysterious civilization through the lens of suspense and danger. Players assume the role of a scientist working for the National Institute of Mystery, sent to investigate the unexplained disappearance of an archaeological team excavating an important Aztec discovery. Upon arriving at the deserted camp, it becomes obvious that something has gone terribly wrong. The abandoned equipment, deserted excavation site, and lack of survivors establish an unsettling atmosphere from the very beginning. As the investigation continues, clues scattered throughout the environment gradually reveal fragments of the expedition's fate while hinting at an ancient evil connected to the ruins. Rather than delivering the entire story through lengthy dialogue, the game encourages exploration and observation, allowing players to assemble the mystery piece by piece through environmental storytelling. Exploration serves as the foundation of the gameplay. Large areas encourage players to search beyond the main path, rewarding curiosity with hidden locations, additional lore, and useful discoveries. Progress often depends on paying attention to the surroundings instead of simply following objective markers, creating a stronger sense of immersion. Combat becomes increasingly important as supernatural enemies emerge from the darkness, forcing players to defend themselves while continuing their search for answers. Although the action mechanics remain fairly straightforward, they complement the slower investigative pacing by introducing bursts of tension without overwhelming the exploration aspects that define the overall experience. The atmosphere is one of Aztecalypse's greatest strengths. Ancient temples, underground chambers, dense wilderness, and forgotten ruins are presented with enough detail to make exploration consistently engaging despite the game's independent production values. The developers effectively use lighting, shadows, and environmental design to maintain a feeling of uncertainty throughout the adventure. Every new structure suggests that something dangerous could be hidden just beyond sight, while eerie ambient sounds and unsettling musical cues constantly reinforce the oppressive mood. Rather than relying exclusively on sudden scares, the game builds fear through anticipation, allowing the environment itself to become one of the primary sources of tension. Another appealing aspect is the way the game incorporates Aztec mythology into its horror elements. Instead of using generic monsters or supernatural clichés, the narrative draws inspiration from ancient beliefs and forgotten legends to create an adventure that feels more distinctive than many indie horror titles. The archaeological setting adds an educational sense of curiosity while remaining firmly focused on suspense, making the player's investigation feel meaningful as each discovery reveals another piece of the larger mystery. This thematic approach helps the game establish a memorable identity despite its relatively modest scope. Naturally, Aztecalypse also shows the limitations of its independent development. Character animations, visual polish, and certain gameplay systems are not as refined as those found in larger productions. Combat encounters can occasionally become repetitive, and some objectives may feel overly familiar after extended play. Players expecting cutting-edge graphics or deeply complex mechanics may notice these shortcomings. However, the game's ambition and originality often compensate for its technical limitations. Its willingness to blend archaeology, mythology, exploration, and horror into a single experience creates an adventure that remains engaging even when its presentation occasionally feels dated. Overall, Aztecalypse succeeds as an atmospheric first-person adventure that values exploration, mystery, and supernatural storytelling above constant action. Its distinctive setting, intriguing premise, immersive environments, and gradual narrative progression provide enough substance to keep players invested from beginning to end. While the game is held back somewhat by its limited production values and repetitive gameplay elements, it delivers an entertaining horror experience that stands out through its creative use of ancient mythology and investigative gameplay. Players who appreciate slower-paced adventures built around exploration and suspense will likely find this journey through forgotten Aztec ruins both memorable and rewarding. Rating: 5/10
