Good game 6/10
Abandoned Early Access. 2.5/10
Attrition: TF - A strategic (tiny) perl in the haystack. Got this game in a strategic bundle. The name offers no attraction, but after first start it shows a great tutorial to introduce the game mechanics of a well designed turn-based strategy war game. Some early scenarios offer given units for your army, later on you are requested to choose best setup. The units seem to be 1900 brought from WW I, anyhow they do not show up from specific nations. Just different soldiers, self-propelled guns, anti-tank guns, and different tanks up to heavy tank. It's like rock-paper-scissors, as the enemy get the same units. Due to fog of war, you are never sure, which combination your enemy has choosen, instead you know the numbers. Terrain and maps are well designed, so all units can find best position to fight. Informations about pros/cons are quite nice offered, so it reminds a little bit on panzer general or extended chess table. So far I didn't recognize any research, but that's not really needed for the very well designed campain. They offer multiplayer too, but not tested yet. Singleplayer seems a good practice though. Workshop support included, but only new maps found so far. I wouldn't spend too much money on this game as it is quite simple, but catch it in a bundle or on sale and you get that one-more-turn feeling with quite interesting in-depth strategy game. Update: after ~3 hours the campain is done, only challange left is multiplayer, still thumbs up for the fun, but thought it offers some more
I liked this game. I wouldn't pay full price for it though (bought it in a bundle). I think $5-10 would be fair. Positives: It was generally fun to play, reminded me a little of Advance Wars. Personally I loved that the battles are super short, it's easy to pick up for a quick match in a break or something. Negatives: the game feels a bit sloppy technically, lots of UI issues, can't always see what the enemy does on their turn because of camera issues, AI is kinda dumb, just general jankiness. I would recommend picking this up if you're looking for a short, cheap turn based strategy game to kill a few hours. Nothing spectacular all round, but generally fun & competent gameplay with some technical issues.
Solid little tactics game
A pleasant surprise.
This is an abandoned early access/beta slightly cartoony turn based strategy where you control units on a hex map. While the game works it lacks polish. The real problem here is that they're charging a preposterous $20 for a clunky, limited, cartoony turn based strategy game which is objectively inferior to most of the other more serious turn based strategy games on Steam. Did these guys do any market research at all? Do they not know that PC gamers don't like games that look and feel like mobile games, and that PC gamers don't pay PC prices for mobile quality games? Did they not look at all the other, cheaper, better turn based strategy games before making one that was worse, and charging more for it? Rant over, don't waste your time with these guys like I did.
