About
Atomic Exile is a top down post-apocalyptic extraction shooter set in the desert wastelands of near future America. You will visit enclaves, explore devastated ruins and encounter NPCs such as other survivors, raiders, mutated beasts and rogue machines. Each run is a new experience with procedural generation ensuring that exploring the same area twice is never the same.
Equipment
You will start with the bare essentials. Scavenge clothing and food from the wasteland. Return to town and trade for supplies. Find valuable items to turn into cold cash. Stock up on medicine food, water and bullets. If you want to drive don’t forget fuel and tools.
Driving
The ruins are full of abandoned vehicles. With a little ingenuity some of these cars may be made to run again. Bring along fuel and tools and try your luck with repairs. Be warned a running engine is noisy and may attract trouble. Don’t forget to search the trunk. The previous owner may have left something useful behind.
Weapons
Find weapons to modify. Add enhanced sights, improve handling with better grips, swap out magazines and more. Craft the weapon that’s right for each situation.
Stealth
The denizens of the wasteland are on alert for wayward travellers. Keep out of sight and keep quiet unless you want to be diner. To much noise will bring unwanted attention. Even turning a door handle can alert nearby enemies.
Health
The wasteland is a dangerous place. Look after your health with medical supplies, food and water. Rest when you need to, run if you have to and drive when you can.

The gameplay loop itself is very good, and the vehicles make it even better. BUT! Not only you see literally a few meters ahead while driving, which results in constant damage, but it also breaks in literally 2-3 hits or shots. The backpacks are balanced so that they have much more space than the weight they allow you to carry. Loot management is terrible; there are no quick-transfer buttons. Many items stack 1-2, and there's a wide variety of loot. As a result, I spent about 25% of my time organizing my belongings. I know that game development takes a lot of time and is a very complex and comprehensive process, so I'm leaving a negative review in the hopes that the developer will see it and make some changes to accommodate the player's needs.
I don't like comparing games, but i prefer this game over Zero Sievert even in current state in almost any way except the loot system. You see, when i killed a bandit, marauder whatever and if he using let say a shotgun, i would expect when i loot the corpse there would be a shotgun. But that's not the case because the loot is always randomized. Thats one thing i dislike about this game. Also when you inside a car you shouldn't be able to injured by melee attacker directly, It should've been damage the car instead. I really wish this game could meet my expectation since Zero Sievert is personally... a let down for me
Maps full of loot with the carrying capacity of a toddler. I'm tired boss.
This is a really good game! I am quite surprised! So I tried zero sievert cause I really enjoy extraction shooters but as much as I liked it I found myself growing tired of it and quick (I die a lot lol and that frustrated me). So I was on the search again for a strictly PVE extraction shooter game, I came across this and I know this game doesn't have multiplayer and that made me hesitant at first because I didn't know how much content or replay ability it would have. Well I caved and bought it as an early present to myself for my bday! (which is today hehe) and I have to say this scratches that itch for a good extraction shooter! The world is somewhat procedural which is nice (buildings are never in the same spot) and the world is crawling with life! (Zombies, zombie dogs and Bandits everywhere!) which makes you literally have to be aware of your surroundings and quick! Knowing when to loot or when to reload or do anything is very important because one wrong move and your done! Another aspect is knowing what to loot (Don't be greedy! leave it! it's not worth it! Lol). The quests are fun, simple, straight to the point and feels rewarding which I love. The character progression for self leveling is locked behind some craftable buildings you need to own which I kind of like because it makes me want to keep playing so I can finally upgrade certain skills! (I'm assuming there is more then just the four skills?) And the reputation system is cool! You slowly work your way up and your locked from a lot of things to purchase but this is where it gets fun! Looting in the wild can be SO REWARDING! I noticed you can drive vehicles! (I have not dared to try lmao) and that's a cool aspect! The gun customization and melee customization feels so good! I got this gun that although is weak its literally been my go to! and I've managed to find a few mods that made it shine! Overall this is a hidden gem and if you enjoy a good extraction shooter give it a try! I'm glad I got it, it's been super fun and chill! :):)
It has potential, core mechanics feel good, but I have quibbles. Gonna focus on those for feedback purposes. - Human AI is very skittish (and seem to carry their guns loaded with a single round), whilst also being able to shoot you from beyond your max range. How and when they detect you seems inconsistent and ambiguous. - Economy/progression is a bit too simple and easy. There's no real hobo phase, even if you start with the "not much" loadout. You get given an assault rifle right off the bat (for completing the first quest), and so far it seems perfectly capable of handling all threats in the game. Ammo and mags are dirt-cheap. From there, it's very easy to kill enemies, cram your backpack full of loot and make money hand over fist. This is exacerbated by the absence of permadeath - if you die, you reload at base from before you departed. There's no real negative progression, which I feel an 'extraction' type game needs to remain compelling. - Medical system and supplies are a bit all over the place. There's an infection system but it doesn't seem to be very relevant. You get hit by a zombie, fail a diceroll and the infection meter starts climbing slowly - but cure items drop from zombies and loot quite frequently. There is bleeding, location-based damage and such, but it all seems inconsequential so far. - There are land-mines everywhere, and their hitbox seems to extend beyond their sprite. Makes navigating annoying, particularly in vehicles. You can only defuse them by walking up to them and performing the action, which has a chance of failure and blowing you up. - Vehicles are very fragile - I've heard there's going to be an upgrade system, so may not remain an issue, but by default they're out of commission after taking a handful of rounds. There are also toolkits allowing you to repair them in the field, but I didn't come across one in my time with the game.
January 2026: 10 hours of content, done all the quests, all upgrades and seen all the levels. It's fun but it is EARLY access. Also while there are different ammuntion types, armor piercing and FMJ, there is seemingly no difference in damage. They are more expensive and stack less but that's it.
this game is so ready to be better, playing this game for a few hours and i love what i've seen, the issues i've been dealing with have been crafting materials and key cards, i cant finish quests or craft any workbenches, i see a-lot of good game development but we need to add a craft shop like an old lady in a chair or something, and ammo boxes that allow us better management for our inv. i look forward to playing more after a update or two i recommend the game fully, its still in need of a few things, but i fully intend to play more.
Hello, developers! I'm a Brazilian gamer! 🇧🇷 I love indie games and I'm really rooting for the success of Atomic Exiles 🙌🔥 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🎮 Minhas primeiras impressões sobre o jogo!
Loot. Die. Crawl. Repeat. Atomic Exile is Fallout + scavenging + “run away from mutants yelling your life choices” in a desert wasteland where even your car wants to eat you. Pros: Scavenge loot, mod guns, and pray you extract 🪓 Procedural chaos keeps runs spicy 🌵 Cons: You will die. A lot. 💀 Early Access bugs may remind you it’s unfinished 🛠️ Verdict: Wasteland therapy through fire and bullets. Recommended if you like pain with loot.
