Alors...
Atom Grrrl!! is a mess of a story about a couple of west coast American lesbian mafia girls that go after a cousin because she set up a casino on the first girls' turf. Most of the scenes in the story are horribly modified scenes from Pulp Fiction written by Japanese that are trying to sound American, complete with dumb slang. There's the diner scene, there's the clean-up-the-dead-guy-in-the-car scene, there's an attache case, etc. Strangely, I can't tell if they tried too hard or not enough; either way, it's just not very good. The graphics are pretty poor -- it looks like the backgrounds are 8-bit color pixelated photos of real locations (Las Vegas, Los Angeles, etc) with sprites drawn on top all in 800x600 resolution. Everybody is fully voiced in Japanese, which is a nice touch, and I suspect that's why the game costs $10 full price. As far the Steam release -- it is censored graphically though you can pick up a patch if you search the interwebs, but it's a mosaic-censored patch. There is also an "uncensored" version of the game available on Denpasoft and while it does have one scene that is not mosaic-censored like the patched version, there are still reduced-mosaic censored images in the rest of the game. Denpasoft has always been pretty good about distinguishing between uncensored and mosaic games, but I think in this case it would be more accurate to call it "reduced mosaic" instead of "uncensored". I'm the dumb one for buying both versions (they were both on sale for $5, so not the end of the world), but I can't recommend this game to anybody. It's just a mess.
