In Astrometica Prologue, crafting is at the core of survival and exploration. With the resources you gather from the depths of space, you have the power to craft essential tools for your journey. From drills that penetrate asteroid cores, to lasers that cut through the unknown, and base builders that allow you to establish your own corner in the cosmos—each tool is vital for survival. But it doesn’t stop there; modifications are available to enhance every tool’s efficiency and adaptability to the challenges you face.
Moreover, your survival kit can be expanded with crafted items crucial for enduring the harsh space environment. Shield modules to protect against cosmic hazards, oxygen tanks for extended ventures, and a jetpack to navigate the zero-gravity realms with ease. Each crafted item is designed to boost your capabilities—whether it’s speeding across asteroid fields, bolstering your defenses against unforeseen dangers, or expanding your carry capacity to hoard more resources.
Astrometica Prologue invites you to leverage these crafting opportunities to tailor your survival strategy. Strengthen your arsenal, optimize your gear, and ensure your survival in the sprawling universe of Astrometica. Your ingenuity and resourcefulness are your best allies in this grand space adventure.
Base building in Astrometica Prologue transcends mere survival—it's about creating a stronghold that reflects your strategic prowess and innovative spirit. Even in this free version, you are empowered to establish a robust base that serves not just as a shelter, but as your operations center against the backdrop of space's infinite challenges.
Living quarters are just the beginning. Here, you can rest, plan your next moves, and safeguard your collected resources. Energy is a critical aspect of survival, and Astrometica Prologue allows you to harness the power of the cosmos through solar panels. These installations ensure your base remains operational, powering everything from life-support systems to research labs.
A vehicle station adds another layer of depth to your base, serving as a hub for crafting, upgrading, and deploying vehicles essential for exploration and resource collection. It's not just about building a base; it's about creating a foundation for expansion, exploration, and domination of the cosmic frontier.
In Astrometica Prologue, your base is more than a sanctuary—it's a testament to your journey, growth, and resilience in the vastness of space.
In Astrometica Prologue, your adventure is guided by the pursuit of signals and the exploration of enigmatic territories. Within this free version, two primary types of signals beckon you into the unknown, each promising new discoveries and challenges.
Wanted to compare the demo with the full version I have. It was a bit fun due to the different layout. But some of it is an earlier incarnation, so know that you'll like the ful version BETTER than this if you move on. If the (single) Dev somehow makes maps community created with a tool for people to create them, this has the potential to EXPLODE.
(based on the demo) If you are a Subnautica enjoyer, you will enjoy this game. Some things that I do not like: >you cannot stack items in your inventory >wondering if the game is worth purchasing because I unlocked 3/9 achievements for the game in the demo, the scanner tool is not included in the demo
If you'd like to play a very indy-feeling Subnautica clone set in space, this game might be for you. However, currently (June 2026) it feels quite unfinished. While it seems to be quite free of bugs, it is also quite free of story or atmosphere, and the prologue doesn't really show off anything unique about this game. Take the graphics from an early version of Planet Crafter, put it onto mechanics from Breathage and remove all the story and bad jokes, and you get the current state of Astrometica. To be honest, I gave Planet Crafter the benefit of a doubt in a much, much earlier / rougher state, and it turned out to be worth it. However, given that Subnautica 2 is out, I will probably go play that instead.
Beware, Prologue is very short, just a little taske of the whole thing - you craft few items and that's all. Finding Silver was tedious. Otherwise the game as a whole looks promising...
Astrometica: Prologue takes the familiar structure of survival and crafting games and moves it away from forests, islands, and post-apocalyptic landscapes into the emptiness of space. Rather than surviving against wildlife or environmental disasters on a planet, players are placed in a cold and isolated environment where resources are scarce and every decision contributes toward staying alive. As a prologue experience, the game acts as an early introduction to a larger project, but even within its shorter format it establishes a clear identity through exploration, progression systems, and the constant feeling of surviving in an unforgiving environment. Exploration becomes one of the most important parts of the overall experience. Space itself acts as both a source of opportunity and a constant threat. Players travel through asteroid fields, investigate abandoned structures, and search through different areas for materials needed to continue progressing. Unlike traditional survival games where environments often feel crowded with activity, Astrometica creates a sense of loneliness that changes the mood entirely. The emptiness surrounding the player creates moments where discovery feels exciting while also maintaining a quiet sense of vulnerability. Resource gathering serves as the foundation for nearly every major activity throughout the game. Materials collected from the environment are necessary for creating tools, expanding operations, and improving survival chances. The game gradually introduces methods that help reduce repetitive tasks and make gathering more efficient over time. Instead of constantly repeating basic actions throughout the entire experience, players slowly transition toward systems that improve productivity and support larger goals. This progression creates a satisfying feeling because players can clearly see how far they have advanced. Crafting mechanics also play a major role in keeping the gameplay loop engaging. Tools and equipment are not simply optional additions but become necessary for expanding exploration possibilities and reaching new areas. Every newly created item opens additional opportunities and allows players to interact with the world in different ways. Rather than giving rewards without effort, the game creates a stronger feeling of accomplishment because progression depends on collecting resources and making meaningful use of them. Base building becomes another important part of the experience and adds a sense of ownership to survival. Creating a personal station in the middle of space creates a strong contrast against the loneliness of exploration. Players begin with limited resources and gradually construct larger structures capable of supporting more advanced operations. Watching a small survival setup slowly develop into something more functional becomes one of the most rewarding aspects of progression. Vehicle systems also contribute positively by making exploration more enjoyable and less repetitive. As players unlock better transportation options, larger sections of space become easier to navigate. These additions create a stronger feeling of growth because movement itself improves as players continue progressing. The game benefits from these systems because they prevent exploration from feeling restricted to basic movement for long periods. Visually, Astrometica succeeds at creating a convincing science-fiction atmosphere. The dark emptiness of space, floating structures, and distant objects all contribute to an environment that feels both beautiful and intimidating. The game effectively uses isolation as part of its atmosphere, constantly reminding players that they are surviving in a place where help feels very far away. However, the experience does have limitations. Since this is a prologue version, players are only given access to a portion of the larger vision. Some systems feel like introductions to mechanics that will likely receive greater expansion later. Just as players begin becoming invested in progression and exploration, the available content may begin to feel restrictive. Technical issues and rough edges can also occasionally interrupt immersion. Performance problems and smaller gameplay issues sometimes become noticeable and remind players that the project still has room for improvement. Despite these shortcomings, Astrometica: Prologue succeeds because it creates an enjoyable blend of survival mechanics and space exploration. It takes familiar systems involving gathering, crafting, and construction and places them inside an environment that feels both mysterious and isolated. Even as an introductory experience, the game does a strong job of creating curiosity about the larger world and systems waiting beyond the prologue. For players who enjoy survival games with a science-fiction setting and gradual progression, it offers a promising experience that demonstrates considerable potential. Rating: 8/10
