Good
It's a fun little game made clearly with a lot of love and passion. The whole thing is done by what I'd guess is a close group, so the writing and voice acting isn't professional by any means, but it has heart and humanity that will make you smile while you cringe just a bit. If you're a bit patient with repetitive combat, you'll be rewarded with such chaotic action and explosions of all sorts, dropping your framerate to nothing, but you're just enjoying the mash.
Something that could have made the game feel like there was a bit of progresion beyond Level Done - Next Level could have been unlocking the different elemental bullets through each level, then using them all to take down big bad Snake Eyes
With a project like this, there are bound to be a few bugs. There were times when the tutorial hints just wouldn't go away until you either restart the level, or progress to the next. And the hints also keep appearing throughout the entire game. Even into the boss room. And the one I found that really set me heart a-flutter, was that after keeping still during one of the cutscenes for an extended period of time, the game went into it's, though admittedly it is sick, pre-home screen waiting scene. Which then sent me to the home screen, where I had to again restart the level. In the end though.. it was a fun hour to spend, and I'd do it again some day.
P.S. We all know what the true ending is, and it was fkn aura, I can't lie to you
I like it!
☀️
Very amazing game. Would recommend. Loved the game and all it has to offer.
for a game thats under 20 gigs, it might be one of the most unoptimized games ive ever played
I don't want to be too harsh on this game. It was made with love. Simple low poly art combined with Holywood-like cutscenes and gameplay that will blow your motherboard away.
nice
At about 1.5 hours runtime and free, Ashes to Ashes won't burn a hole in your pocket or your evening - but it's probably just as well it's short. While it has an interesting concept, it's exceptionally busted. I suspect they ran out of budget or staff at some point and ended up releasing a untuned version just to get it out the door. Here's a rundown. - You pack a six shooter that can be loaded with elemental shots - except you never need to reload. You can just spam fire over and over, and it'll fire the same six types you've chosen. So any element of needing to think or plan was undone by literal spamming keys fast as you can. I don't know if this was bugged or intended, but it meant I could blast down everything without a thought. - Enemies killed stay dead when you respawn, removing any need to take care at all. This combined with broken reloading means the game is barely a game and more of an exercise in moving through the plot. You also get 5 healing consumables that are easily replaced. So very little is intended as a challenge. - Main character isn't likeable and doesn't get better as we learn more about them. - For me, massive artefacting and tearing was present, though that could just be my Radeon card giving up the ghost. It gave me less reason to be invested.
