I got this on a 70% off sale and I havent quite figured out its true potential yet but have done some things such as adding screenies of my maps and adding important locations and information, as well as detailing character bios and other notes such as which sfx i use for what. It is really handy, but probably too powerful for my purposes. Editting what you want is fast and easy as you can open new tabs and windows and keep them on different screens to improve workflow. The Interface is really neat and you can add objects, art etc to all your elements to get a visual representation. You can easily plan dialogues and link everything together. References are automatically generated, ie if you add something to a location it will automatically create a reference of this so if you view the references for said location it will have whatever you added, and the location will be added to its reference list too. For anyone serious about game design and good planning this is perfect, but if you are just beginning like me word processors would probably suffice if you had to pay the full price for this. This is also the older version, with the new one being double the price and commercial usage i believe another $100, so i would think that out of reach for beginners and Indie Designers on a budget. However if you need a powerful tool for game design and either find it on sale or have the money to spend, then look no further than articy:draft, You won't regret it and your creative ideas will be well documented and can be visualised! :)

I haven't got the chance to use it for very long but it seems alright. Only joking, Articy Draft is a comprehensive world-building and design tool aimed for a very particular market. An absolute must for designers who take their work seriously.
Unless you're extremely dedicated and on point about keeping your files synched up, either remotely through cloud, or on an extra partition on your hard drive, I absolutely do not recommend using this application. By default, it stores files to your OS partition. You might say, "Well, duh? So what?" It assigns this as the default save filesystem, every single time you reinstall. So, if you reinstall Windows, after changing the save directory, you're previous files should be fine, but any new projects created afterwards will not be saved to that directory unless the application is explicitly instructed to do so. And because you will almost never need to visit the project folders manually, where you would clearly see which project files are present, and which project files aren't, it won't be obvious this is happening. If you fail to redesignate a non-OS directory when you relaunch after reinstalling, it will default once more to saving any new project files in the OS directory. And then, if you have to reinstall Windows AGAIN, which can happen with alarming frequency, you will lose any projects you've created since the last time you manually assigned a directory. This is how I lost my latest, and most valuable project. An unexpectedly necessary reinstallation of Windows, and the assumption that when I designated a save directory, it STAYED designated, resulted in the loss of probably 25 hours of work, I can only imagine how much more frustrating it would be to someone who put in months or even years of development into a project. I usually reinstall Windows in a secondary directory, so that I can retrieve files from the old installation, to avoid such a loss, but I know some people don't take this precaution, and this particular time, I didn't have the luxury of that option, since Windows refused to reinstall until I had formatted the previous installation, despite the previous installation being on a different partition from the new one. The only other complaint I can think of off the top of my head is that setting up templates can be clunky, and somewhat restrictive. It's an excellent organization tool, but considering there's no automatic cloud storage, and you have to designate save directories and backups manually if you want your project to survive a reinstallation of Windows, I can't really see that much reason to use it instead of just using regular text files, providing you know how to organize folders and such. And in the case of the latter, if you start accidentally saving to a different directory, you'll probably notice, because you're much more likely to at frequent intervals, open the containing folders for your project files. The timeline charts are the main thing I can think of which aren't already easily covered by a standard office suite of some kind. But I might even be wrong on that, and there's some tool I'm just not familiar with. I would not buy this product again knowing what I do now, but considering I already own a copy, and awareness of this crippling flaw somewhat mitigates the damage it will likely do in the future, I will probably continue to use it. Were the developer to implement a native cloud storage mechanism, even if say, with a limitation of 1GB or so, it would be a far more useful product. Projects will likely be mostly text, so not very much storage is really needed, and those who have larger files could easily either pay for more storage, or use a third party cloud.

I´m using it for everything: Business proyect design, public presentation structuring, scriptwriting -story flow-, and even to create my table Rol games stories. For me this is a sofisticated Mind Map and loving it.
I've used articy:draft 2 for several years now, creating roughly 10 projects for both video game design and my ongoing Pathfinder and Starfinder campaigns over the years. A:d is fantastic for its adaptability and customizability, allowing the user to go several layers deep in depth for each element of their design, whether it be plot points, locations, NPCs, or other entities, all created via fully customizable templates. My only gripe about this program is the lack of instruction. Even with the tutorial and the online help, I often found myself figuring things out on my own and even with 250+ hours of usage, still don't feel I have full mastery of the program. Apparently, this program is taught in certain game design schools, though none of the instruction is available via YouTube or other videos.
The Software is amazing but i misunderstood the meaning behind it, i believed it was going to be something like RPG maker where you can make your own style of game, but to my fail attempt of doing a bit more research the the hour longs of research that i have already spent making i found out that it is only a software that you may use to make a file for a type of game, not to create a game thus the word draft, ofcourse i did go threw the tutorial only, and re-watched a lot of online videos to understand it better and it is with out a doubt an amazing software for those who wish to create certaint types of dialog for a game they are ether making or planning on making, i am not at the level of skill to even attempt to use this software even if it is this amazing, im just a starting inde rookie with only 2 years under my belt and i am hoping to increase my skills a little more before attemtpting to buy articy:draft again. All and all to every pro or semi pro inde developer out their if you want dialogs made simple this is the product for you, that is my opinion of this product. P.S their seems to be a misunderstanding in information about how to import to a game, go to the website to learn more about that.
organization, paths that can branch, the feature to keep npcs organized by portrait thumbnails
A useful software for developing video game stories. Allowing you to interconnect all your pieces especially if you have multiple endings. Great for character development.
