Arcana Sands of Destiny

This game has some serious performance issues. Video and audio stutters in cut scenes and at that time the CPU load spikes to almost 100%. When the start screen is displayed (i.e. where you have the menu where you can start the game), my CPU load is constantly about 90+% and GPU load is 30+% (from this game alone!) I have a Ryzen Threadripper 3960X 24 core CPU, RTX 2080Ti GPU and 128 GB RAM. It's fascinating (in lack of a better word) to see a game overload that hardware only by displaying an almost static image. Game refunded.

Great masterpiece of a game! Great story, and I like how there is light combat as well as puzzles, and h/o. However, it does run a bit slow at times.

ГЕЙМПЛЕЙ Начнём с того, что это самый классический вариант Hidden objects игр. Причём в самом хорошем смысле этой фразы. Игра сделана просто отлично, начиная с сюжета и заканчивая реализацией. Тут есть всё, и небольшая история, которая растягивается на всю игру, множество разнообразных головоломок, над которыми порой придётся долгое время поломать голову, поискать предметы по списку, как в классических играх такого жанра, найти спрятанные разработчиками дополнительные предметы, которые приняли вид других. Победить демонов, спасти жизни и построить дворец. Начнём по порядку, игру мы начинаем с предыстории, которая нам говорит, что некий учёный нашел древнюю реликвию в Египте, он отправил её своей жене, чтобы та смогла расшифровать письмена. Девушка отправляется в Египет к своему мужу, но находит его в плачевном состоянии - он поражён магической болезнью, а все улицы заполнены духами и блуждающими мумиями. Тут и начинается геймплей. Нам надо спасти мужа, а значит состряпать противоядие. Для этого нужно найти множество ингредиентов, разбросанных по всем локациям, и за которые нам ещё придётся побороться с духами и разгадать кучу загадок. Мы ходим по разным постройкам, общаемся с людьми и разгадываем загадки. Какие-то по началу будут совсем лёгкими головоломками, а над какими то придётся поломать голову может и не один час времени. Постепенно мы собираем разные предметы, которые так же используем в головоломках, и специальные монеты, за которые мы будем выстраивать дворец. Когда дворец достигнет определённого уровня, у нас появятся новые способности, например - чтение древних манускриптов. Ещё раз повторимся, игра только на первый взгляд кажется простой, но некоторые предметы будет найти очень проблематично. К тому же, мы можем выбрать из двух вариантов прохождения - где нам показывают предмет при наведении, или где мы вообще играем в слепую. Примечательным моментом ещё является то, что мы тут не просто видим каких-то персонажей, но и взаимодействуем с ними, общаемся, получаем подсказки и помогаем. В целом, игра получилась отличная, в неё хорошо всё и фанаты жанра будут приятно удивлены. ПЛЮСЫ Много интересных головоломок. Наличие диалогов и хорошая озвучка. Интересный сюжет. Хороший визуальный стиль игры. Наличие русского языка. МИНУСЫ Не найдено. "Arcana Sands of Destiny" is a Hidden Object puzzle game, the type you normally see on mobile app stores or even as browser apps. There's literally hundreds of these on Steam, mostly published by Artifex Mundi, many of them free on mobile app stores, but this one will cost you money on Steam. There's a ancient egyptian theme to the game, but this is a just a veneer over a tired and overdone set of hidden object minigames and Adobe Flash tier puzzles, wrapped together with a bunch of static screens that you "move" through by tapping your finger on your iPhone screen. While these kinds of games are popular amongst casual gamers, it's difficult to argue this is a great value proposition as a PC game, especially considering the price of this compared to the hundreds of free HOGs on the mobile app stores. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes "Arcana Sands of Destiny" might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 8 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? "Arcana Sands of Destiny" has the insane price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "X-Com 2", "Torchlight 2" or "The Walking Dead". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this. Game stopping bugs, quickly resolved by very helpful Purplecloud ( see update) As result of the bugs I tried the game, 3 times over with a new gameplay. But to no avail. Everytime I was unable to continue and complete the game because of game-stopping bugs. - first time (bug no.2): not all item of an inventory-puzzle was acknowledge, so the puzzle stayed uncompleted and I had to start the game alle over again. -second time (bug no3); the game freezed over, while selecting an collectable. Collectables are essential elements of this hidden object game as it unlocks the ability of power granted to your main character. And yes, also this time , I had to the game start over again!! - third time - bug no.4 (and last time ... I gave up), an halfway completed inventory puzzle freezes and the inventory-item needed to continue the puzzle has disappeared! - 1st bug, is that your ingame dairy does not update after page 8, that is halfway the 1st of the 3 missions you have to complete to finish the main-game. PurpleCloud [the developer ] responds quickly and in within only a few days time, made it possible for me to succesfully continue and finish the game. 10 November 2021 update: - the not updating of the pages of the ingame dairy pages has been solved 11 november 2021 update: - bug no.4 (missing inventory-item) will be fixed by the developer. But it can also be prevented from happening (please read thread in discussion community for more information)

Great HOPs and mini-games. Plus I love any game Egyptian-based. Music is very good for the game theme. A few of the achievements are missable. The developer(s) is(are) very helpful with how to not miss them, and I bet they would solve any technical issues you might have. i did not have any technical issues. I hope they make another adventure game!

Many things to do and a lot of thought has to go into it. Some are easy and some are tough. Get rid of the mummies so we can all go home! Love this game.
