About
In a workplace that's replaced all of its employees with AI workers battle through a corporate office building using a variety of weird objects, all except a gun. As you travel floor to floor, combat the AI takeover with your own creative power and win everyone their jobs back. The only rule? Anything But A Gun.
In a run you'll encounter randomized room layouts filled with waves of enemies. Buy new weapons and upgrade them along the way, but make sure you have enough ammo too! The better you play the higher your score will go and you'll even see the world become more vibrant in real time. After three levels, you'll fight the boss - the head of the company. If you die at any point, you'll have to start over from the beginning, but don't worry. Every achievement you earn grants you a buff that persists across all your attempts. Good luck beating this game using anything but a gun.
Anything But A Gun is a first person shooter, rogue-lite, high speed, schmup game. Focusing on movement, unique and diverse gunplay, and repeated runs.
Fast paced first person shooter combat
20 unique or even bizarre weapons
Dozens of Upgrades to specialize each weapon
A wide variety of hand drawn enemies
Randomized room layouts in each run
Multiple roguelite upgrade mechanics
30 achievements to collect
Weapons in Anything But A Gun are the highlight and key of our gameplay. Find and discover 20 unique weapons. Ranging anywhere from mundane objects like Laser Pointers to wacky options like an air frier that fires dino-nuggie summons to chomp and bite at your enemies.
In Anything But A Gun the weapons go beyond their realistic day to day uses, your creative interpretation of mundane objects is what makes them lethal. It could be a hobby horse or it could be divorce papers. There are a ton of weapons to discover just like those.
Every weapon has promotions that the weapon can receive allowing you to change the playstyle of those weapons. Turn a simple duck duck goose into an explosive bird dealing massive AOE damage by giving it the Explosive promotion. Or turn an unfortunate divorce into a healing moment with the Family Photo promotion on the Divorce Papers. There are many types of promotions to discover and experiment with in Anything But A Gun.
In Anything But A Gun when you die that's it. Your weapons, your progress, all of those things are lost... with a couple of exceptions.
Our Achievements in the game make and change your future runs. Some simply give you extra health, others allow you to unlock the ability to promote weapons or buy ammo. The achievements change the game making you stronger on every progressive run.
For our more concerned players, currently the game has access to the boss and the level selects. So if you die and wish you could continue, you can!
Anything But A Gun includes controller support and in-game toggles for ammo, health, and currency, letting players adjust the experience to their preferred pace and difficulty. We are committed to expanding accessibility support over time.

Fun mindless arcade shooter. Good game to play when you don't know what to play.
I enjoyed the movement; and guns were fun to try out at first, but I quickly settled on a few favorites and ignored everything else at that point. Guns/enemies are unbalanced (for example, the final boss can be melted with 'weak' but fast shooting gun, like the cactus). All in all, it's alright for one playthrough.
had a pretty good time, liked the reference with the cat, would recommend

It's okay. The rooms can be too cramped at times, which is always annoying in a game like this where you need to be constantly moving. The systems aren't really balanced. You can just use one weapon the whole game, making the constant weapon collection process seem fairly pointless. Sacrificing items to get more money doesn't seem to matter since you never run out in the first place. That mechanic currently bugged and doesn't work anyway, though. Sound design is pretty bad. Some things that should have sound effects don't. Music gets repetitive fast. The game feels short. I've played and loved tons of short games, but I think a progression system like the one in this game is best either when runs are pretty long, there's a ton of variance between runs, or there's permanent progression between runs. This feels a bit like an alpha build that technically works, but most of the content hasn't been added yet. Overall, the game's mostly functional, combat feels kind of okay, the graphics are nice, and some of the weapons are pretty fun, so it's worth giving a shot.
Easy to pick up and quite fun! Worth it to play for a couple of hours to get all of the achievements!
Really neat little game! Movement feels pretty good (the dash is nice), the shooting feels solid, and the art style is appealing. The weapon designs are fun and varied, but their actual strength feels a bit unbalanced (I struggled for my first couple runs then breezed through with the Cactus). Ultimately, it's a little rough around the edges but absolutely worth checking out!
Best fps i've played all night!
i love playing unknown indie games and this one realy suprised me- after just one game i already feel the potential for this game
Awesome concept folks and creativity. Nailed the execution. The 1 minor problem for me was it doesnt feel complete in narrative wise .
Very fun game but pretty short playtime. I would love more stages to get added but this was very fun for a free game. Cactus is very overpowered against the boss.
