If you’re reading this, you’re probably a hidden object game (HOG) fan already (and if not… how did you even end up in this review section? XD). Good news: Animal Pattern absolutely delivers. Each of the 7 levels hides 100 animals, drawn in pairs. Your mission is simple: find 2 identical animals and clear them. Sounds easy when the first stages show differently-shaped cats and dogs... but then the environment changes and suddenly every jaguar, horse and koi look suspiciously identical. The difficulty ramps up quickly, and veterans of the genre will feel their brain switching into full detective mode. The challenge is the real star here. It’s refreshing to play a hidden object game that actually pushes back. Once you clear the 7 levels, the fun doesn’t stop either. A randomizer unlocks new seeds along with 3 extra modes: countdown, time trial and limited actions. That means every run can feel different, which keeps the hunt lively. Achievements mostly follow normal completion too, with a couple extra runs in special modes to reach 100%. Controls are simple mouse clicks, hints exist if your brain starts melting, and levels unlock in batches of two or three so you can choose your path. There’s also a nice chunk of content for the price. My full completion took about 3h35, which is generous for the genre. Just prepare your eyes: later levels can be intense, especially when dozens of nearly identical animals cover the screen. The outer zoom could be a little wider, though I suspect that limitation exists to stop players from spotting pairs too easily in one glance. More of a design choice than a complaint. Overall a GREAT hidden object game. Worth to add to your library, even at full price. Animal Pattern by Developer Neblyn I was given this fun, memory game from the developer to experience, thank you! It's fun and challenging to test your memory and concentration. This game will help you improve your memory. There are seven stages. Every stage contains many pairs, some with a slightly different pattern or pose. They look almost identical, except for some slight variations. Has a nice selection of various animals from zebras to wild giraffes and some of the most common house pets. The game has full controller support or you can use your keyboard and mouse. The choice is yours. I prefer using a keyboard and mouse and had no issues. You have options, like playing at night? You can change the background color to a different one. Want more of a challenge? You can choose to play again, and randomize the positions of the animals. Or activate the stop-watch mode and see how fast you beat each level. Playing area is large and not all of the animals can be seen at one time. So, you will have to move the playing area around to find the animal pairs. Zoom does not zoom in/out enough to see the whole picture at once. It might be just another puzzle game with animals, but you can’t go wrong if you know what to expect. There are seven stages, each featuring a different animal. They are divided into three packs, each of which must be completed before moving on to the next. The goal is simple: click on two identical animals or pairs and continue until you have found all 50 pairs. Stages are not fascinating. All seven are a recurring pattern of an animal-appropriate setting, such as a jungle for tigers, a pond for fish, and grass for cats. Although there are some nuances that help it stand out, the scenes are not the best. However, monotonous scenes can help you find pairs more quickly. All 100 animals are evenly placed all over the scene, allowing you to rapidly move around and find what you need. A minor issue is poor zoom. You can not zoom out far enough to see the whole scene, so you are constantly moving. While the first few stages are straightforward owing to the large number of different animals, the later stages get considerably more difficult due to the limited number of animal positions with very little difference. After beating all seven stages, which might take you quite some time, you unlock a couple of extra modes, including a randomizer that shuffles animals and a few time trials.

Animal Pattern is a fun little game. The illustrations are pretty good, and the game board is definitely unique. It's a good way to test your memory and concentration. You have to really pay attention to the patterns and colors to find the matching pairs. It can get a bit tricky at times, but it's not overly difficult.
