If you played Candy Crush, then you know exactly what to expect from [i]Animal Drop Safari[/i]: heavily inspired from the aforementioned, the game takes all the mechanics of Candy Crush and wraps them into an adorable animal-themed package.
Like in any other Match-3 game, the goal is to swap 2 adjacent pieces in order to trigger a 3-match, 4-match, 5-match, L-match and so on. Matches above 3 will produce special tiles, which in turn, matched further, will generate either the removal of all items from one row / column / a square area, or all items from the board having the same color. There are also 5 types of power ups that are sequentially unlocked, as you progress through the game. These recharge as you perform matches on the board, and while they are extremely helpful, it does take quite a long time for them to be available again after one use (roughly 2-3 levels worth of matches).

There is no timer, but every level has a limited number of moves allowed and a specific objective - a certain amount & type of matches to reach / tiles to break. At the end of the level, the remaining moves will be transformed into power tiles that will produce an extremely satisfying flurry of chained explosions, boosting up the score a lot.
If you played Candy Crush, you might remember that the difficulty ramps up quite quickly. Well in [i]Animal Drop Safari[/i] things are a bit different: the difficulty remains fairly constant throughout the game (apart from a few very difficult levels), regardless of the level shape or setup. Getting a 2-star score can be done on the first try, but the 3 star mark is reachable only with a bit of skill and planning of the combos, which are mandatory especially after a third of the game. Getting 2 or 3 stars in a level is not required for further progress in the game, but the stars are used to unlock some nice collectibles of animal photographs. Moreover, if you run out of moves you can "sacrifice” a star (or the ability to reach a 3-star score) in exchange for some extra moves.

With 200 levels available and polished gameplay, [i]Animal Drop Safari[/i] is a very decent, fun and relaxed Match-3 game in which you can end up spending hours and hours. My only complaint is that sadly there are no Steam achievements - I would really like to see them implemented.
